Aaron Greenberg, vice president of Xbox Games Marketing at Microsoft, clarified the controversial comment regarding Banjo-Kazooie franchise. First Banjo-Kazooie the game was released in 1998 as a Nintendo 64 exclusive. A 3D platformer that takes its lead Super Mario 64, Banjo-Kazooie quickly became a beloved classic of the genre and is still fondly remembered today.
Rare followed Banjo-Kazooie with 2000 Banjo-Tooiewhich earned similar acclaim from fans and critics. Several Game Boy Advance spin-offs followed with Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts hit the Xbox 360 in 2008 to mostly positive reviews but a polarizing reception among fans. Many seemed to agree Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts was a great game in its own right, it was just too much of a departure from the established Banjo-Kazooie The formula and its focus on building vehicles was seen by many as a disappointment, especially since there has never been a proper third entry in the series to date.

Banjo-Kazooie Fan Completes Decompilation Project
A Banjo-Kazooie fan is finishing up a decompilation project for the Nintendo 64 platformer that will allow others to create a PC port of the game.

At a recent event for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024Greenberg reportedly said, “Nobody cares Banjo-Kazooie” in response to a fan who yelled it when the audience was asked about game franchises they'd like to see return. Greenberg has since clarified on Twitter that his comment was sarcastic. “I absolutely know how much Banjo-Kazooie means to our fans and players everywhere,” Greenberg said. “It holds a special place in my heart growing up playing these classic games.”

Microsoft hasn't announced a new one Banjo-Kazooie game since then Nuts and bolts released in 2008, but the IP isn't completely idle. HD remasters Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie were issued individually and as a part Rare playback collection. Additionally, Banjo and Kazooie were added to them Super Smash Bros. Ultimate list as DLC guest fighters. Fans no doubt appreciate these things, but many are longing for a proper third entry in the series.
Fortunately, there were rumors that the third Banjo-Kazooie the game is in development, although it is unclear which studio is making it. All we know for sure is that Double Fine isn't doing anything new Banjo-Kazooie game, and if it does exist, it will be interesting to see who makes it and what form it ends up taking. Other insiders denied the rumors that the new Banjo however, the game is in development, so fans should keep their expectations in check. Regardless, fans can rest assured that Microsoft is at least well aware of the demand for something new Banjo-Kazooie and the comment about nobody caring about the series was made sarcastically.
