ZA players agree that the shiny charm should be an unlock

Shiny Charm is incredibly useful in Pokemon Legends: ZA, but it's also very difficult to unlock. It takes so much grinding that after a few days I'd wonder if anyone had one. This is something that has upset some of you, but most Pokemon trainers seem to agree that Shiny Charm should be an item that takes a lot of time and effort to acquire.

To unlock Shiny Charm in Pokemon Legends: ZA, you need to reach level 50 in Mabel's Research, which is the highest level available. This means completing everything Mabel throws at you, including winning 1,000 Pokemon battles and completing ZA's Pokedex. Some complained that the requirements were too high, while others pointed out that just four days after the game's release, there should be tasks that most people couldn't complete in a single weekend.

A Legends: ZA players going through DeathNirvana on Reddit highlighted what it takes to unlock the Shiny Charm on the game's subreddit. They noted that after completing the game, including post-game content, they only reached 420 battles won, so they were still a long way from unlocking the shiny charm. “I was having a pretty good time with ZA, but when I found out about this grind, it really demotivated me,” their post reads.

This led to an influx of responses pointing out, as I noted above, that Pokemon Legends: ZA is only four days old (three days old at the time of the Reddit post). No, it's not a live service that people will be playing for months or years to come, but reaching the point after just three days where you're unhappy that you weren't able to unlock the game's most wanted item is a complaint that doesn't seem to sit well with most Pokemon fans.

The player's inability to get a Shiny Charm after three days is proof that Game Freak did the right thing. Even those who don't have ZA live during the first weekend still have a reason to play. Sure, it's going to be 500+ mindless pokemon battles for most of those people, but maybe you should have considered that before jumping into everything else the game has to offer.

The main wish of these players is to make shiny Pokémon easier to find and catch, of course. This is what Shiny Charm offers. However, Shiny Pokémon are easier to catch in Legends: ZA than ever before. Not only do shiny Pokemon seem to spawn more often, but players have also quickly learned that they won't spawn unless you interact with them.
