7 heroes who would be better successors to everyone than Deku

All Might decided to make Deku his successor by transferring the One For All Quirk to him. Deku may have been a scrawny, Quirkless teenager when he succeeded All Might, but he eventually mastered One For All and became one of the strongest heroes in My Hero Academia. For most MHA fans, Deku was the best choice for All Might's successor, but several other Heroes would probably be better successors than Deku.

Most of the heroes that would be better successors to All Might were Deku's classmates, but a few established heroes would also be good choices. Each of these potential successors had useful Quirks that One For All would empower. For the most part, these self-sacrificing heroes had bodies that could withstand the One For All's superhuman physical abilities.

  • Pro Hero Name: Tentacle Hero: Tentacole

Mezo may not have gotten much screen time, but he played an integral role in defending Central Hospital during the Final War, defeating the mighty Spinner. Upon graduation, Mezo becomes Japan's #9 Pro Hero, making him one of the highest ranked Class 1-A heroes. Mezo is a completely selfless hero, much like Deku, which is incredible since he was persecuted for being a heteromorph. Ever since Mezo became a Pro Hero, he's basically become a symbol of peace for all heteromorphs.

His exploits have earned him worldwide acclaim, including My Hero Academiaversion of the Nobel Peace Prize. These traits make Mezo a prime candidate for All Might's successor, and his Quirk would help make One For All more formidable. Mezo can create multiple duplicate weapons at once during battle. One For All's superhuman strength is immense with just one fist, so multi-handed fire would be devastating for any villain. Unlike Deku, Mezo already had increased durability, so his body would be able to handle the burden of One For All much better.

Eijiro Kirishima

  • Pro Hero Name: Sturdy Hero: Red Riot

When he was younger, Eijiro didn't think much about his Hardening Quirk, but after being accepted into UA High School, he became more confident. Through his training, Eijiro became one of the strongest students in Class 1-A, becoming a selfless hero who threw himself into danger to protect others. This was shown when he attacked a raging Gigantomachia to save Mina's life. If All Might had seen this before meeting Deku, there's a good chance he would have named Eijiro as his successor on the spot.

Aside from his heroic mindset, Eijiro would be a better successor as there is a chance that his Quirk combined with One For All's superhuman durability could potentially make him immune to most forms of physical damage. Eijiro's naturally enhanced body would allow him to better withstand One For All's power, and the superhuman stamina he offers would allow him to keep Hardening active for longer periods of time. Even someone as powerful as All For One would have a hard time hurting Eijiro under these conditions.

  • Pro Hero Name: Erasure Hero: Eraser Head

Shota was a class 1-A homeroom teacher and is known for being a lonely, cold and very strict professional hero who is highly motivated by logic. These aren't the personality traits All Might would typically look for in a successor, but even he can't deny how skilled and effective Shota is in the field. Like Deku, Shota would need training to make One For All compatible with his body, but his tactical skills are better than Deku's, so he would use One For All much smarter during fights. That said, he probably wouldn't get hurt as much as Deku.

Deku was dominated by One For All because he was Quirkless and determined, but Shota would still be a better choice simply because of his Quirk. Erasure is one of the MHAThe most powerful reality altering Quirks because it has the power to nullify other Quirks. Shota could have easily ended All For One and the League of Villains himself if he had One For All in the earlier arcs. The powerless villains could hardly fight against Shoto when all he had was tying up his clothes, so superhuman punches and kicks would be a definitive takedown.

4

Katsuki Bakugo

  • Pro Hero Name: Bombshell Hero: Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight

Bakugo idolized All Might as much as Deku and his dream is to one day surpass All Might as Japan's #1 hero. He is currently ranked fifth. It's true that Bakugo is very hot-headed, vulgar and short-tempered, but his work ethic speaks for itself. He also saved All Might and defeated the real All For One during the Final War, which many people thought was impossible. If that doesn't prove that Bakugo was a worthy successor, nothing else does.

Bakugo's body has been enhanced enough to handle the power of One For All, and thanks to his overpowering Quirk Awakening, he can produce multiple powerful explosions at once. IN My Hero Academia: Heroes: RisingBakugo briefly wielded One For All when Deku transferred it to him, and not only was his body able to keep up with it, it empowered his Quirk to the point where he could melt rock and create huge craters. Based on this brief use, it's clear that Bakugo could have potentially vaporized All For One much earlier if All Might had chosen him instead.

  • Pro Hero Name: AC Hero: Shoto

Since childhood, Shoto underwent grueling training every day because his father wanted him to surpass All Might in every way. When Shoto finally decided to forge his own path, he quickly became one of Japan's strongest and most popular professional heroes. Eight years after graduation, he came in 2nd place. Shoto has the selflessness to succeed All Might. This was seen during Final War when he was willing to sacrifice himself to stop Dabi's nuclear blast.

Shoto had the work ethic to handle One For All faster than Deku, and his own Quirk would have greatly boosted it as well. Half-Cold Half-Hot is one of the MHAThe strongest fire is strange as Shoto can burn bad guys with the fire generated from his left side, while the ice from his right side can freeze them. He can combine both elements to create a powerful cold fire. With One For All up his sleeve, he'd probably beat any villain. Based on his determination, strength, and ability to fight on par with Deku, Shoto would make a great successor.

2

Cathleen Bate

  • Pro Hero Name: Star and Stripe

Cathleen Bate idolized All Might ever since he saved her life in the United States and decided to become a Pro Hero just like him. She became the #1 hero in the US and was one of the few people everyone feared for one because her New Order Quirk could stop him. She had the power to place new properties on other animate or inanimate things, to the point where she could weaken All For One to death by simply touching him and saying his name. Cathleen didn't get much screen time, but she quickly became one of them My Hero Academiabest female characters

When Japan asked for international help, she did not hesitate to help and was willing to die to protect her teammates. Not even death could stop her heroics as she sabotaged her own Quirk when Tomura stole it. This destroyed many of Tomura's accumulated Quirks, making the final fight easier. Deku may have been All Might's best choice, but Cathleen was a much better candidate. She had the right body to contain the power of One For All, she was an experienced hero and respected by All Might. More importantly, Cathleen was able to use the New Order to create a shield that would destroy the body of anyone who tried to steal the One For All from her.

1

Mirio Togata

  • Pro Hero Name: Comedy Hero: Lemillion

Mirio was the strongest student at UA High School when Deku began studying Pro Hero. As a student, Mirio received high praise for his extraordinary technique, superior fighting skills, and charismatic personality, and was therefore touted as a future #1 Pro hero. Before All Might met Deku, Mirio was also considered a top contender to succeed All Might as the next One For All user. One for all may be gone forever, but Mirio has succeeded and become Japan's top rated hero.

Based on his rank, Mirio is now one of the strongest characters My Hero Academiaand One For All would make him so powerful that even All for One and Tomura probably wouldn't be able to stop him. Thanks to his Permeation Quirk, Mirio can become intangible, but he can also move through solid matter at incredible speeds and deliver devastating blows. One For All would make him even faster and stronger, to the point where he could potentially kill any villain in one hit.
