For many of those who grew up in the nineties, an original Pokemon generation is probably their favorite. After all, it was the period when the original 151 Pokémon were introduced, from starters to the first known Mythical and Legendary Pokémon. After the success of the games, a manga was created with the title Pokemon Adventure in English, debuted. In the manga world, things are usually very cheerful, just like the games, but events can also be much more violent and dangerous.
Even Pokemon from the manga are more dangerous compared to their game counterparts. For example, a Grass/Poison-type Victreebel commanded by an enemy nearly murders the central protagonist with its acid. However, just as the enemy Pokémon can be even stronger, so can the hero Pokémon from the manga. In addition to beloved Pokemon like Eevee and Charizard, legendary Pokemon like Mewtwo also proved to be even more special.
Mew remains a mystery in the manga
Mew later saves countless people in the FireRed & LeafGreen Arc
As in the games and anime, very little is known about Mew, a new species Pokémon. In the first arc Pokemon AdventureRed meets his destined rival Blue through a Psychic-type Pokémon. In the forest, Red notices Blue's Charmander fighting a mysterious Pokémon, which happens to be Mew. After Blue decides to end the match, Red tries to battle the New Species Pokémon, but loses.
Mew appears very rarely and usually only in the Kanto region. After witnessing the Pokémon League at the end of the original arc, Mew did not reappear until a year later FireRed & LeafGreen arc. During the events of this action arc, an airship created by Team Rocket nearly destroyed the inhabitants of Vermillion City, as well as Red. However, the city and everyone involved survived the crash thanks to Mew.
Team Rocket creates hybrids from legendary birds
Thu-Fi-Zer can use various types of powerful moves
In the Kanto region, there are three bird Pokémon that are the subject of myths. Usually referred to as legendary birds as a group, they exist as Fire/Flying-type Moltres, Electric/Flying-type Zapdos, and Ice/Flying-type Articuno. Many hope to one day catch a glimpse of these rare Pokémon, or even have the chance to try and catch them. However, in the original arc of the manga, Team Rocket manages to capture all three legendary birds…and form a terrifying union.
Nicknamed “Thu-Fi-Zer”, this unusual hybrid creature can naturally use moves common to bird Pokémon like Gust, but can also use moves that legendary birds could use on their own. This includes not only Fire Spin and Thunder, but also Blizzard and the unusually powerful Sky Attack. Despite how powerful this fusion was, the three original Kanto heroes arrived in time to stop Team Rocket and Thu-Fi-Zer. With a combination of Flamethrower, Vine Whip, and Hydro Pump, Thu-Fi-Zer was able to easily return to the individual Legendary Birds, who immediately fled.
Red meets Eevee, which can evolve and evolve
Vee can use Evolution Stones to switch between forms
Eevee is one of the most sought-after Pokémon in the franchise, and for good reason. Besides being very cute, the normal type is able to evolve into several different forms of different types, from the ice type Glaceon to the dark type Umbreon. Initially, Eevee could only evolve into Fire-type Flareon, Water-type Vaporeon, and Electric-type Jolteon. Usually, once an Eevee evolves, it cannot return to its original state, yet Red encounters a strange Eevee with such power.
This Eevee, later nicknamed “Vee”, was once held captive by Team Rocket, who experimented on it and gave it the power to evolve and transition. Although initially distrustful of humans due to Team Rocket's mistreatment of him, Vee befriended Red, who helped the Evolution Pokémon when it needed a friend the most. The two were able to fight in sync thanks to the use of Vee's unusual power, where she evolved through the evolution stone, transitioned, and then took on a new evolution again. Later, Vee's friendship with Red grew so strong that he evolved into Espeon. After evolving, Vee could no longer evolve, but it was a sure sign that Vee was finally free from Team Rocket's cruel legacy.

A Blastoise Has Been With Green Ever since she returned to Kanto
Blasty is able to mega evolve
As seen in the manga, the amazing Pokémon Trainer Green (originally also known as Blue) did not have an easy life. After being kidnapped by Ho-Oh at a young age, she not only developed a fear of birds, but was forced to become one of the Masked Children imprisoned by the Masked Man. However, Green managed to escape and become a con artist to make his way in the world. Not long after she returned to Kanto, she stole Squirtle from Professor Oak's Pokémon lab, nicknamed him “Blasty”, and evolved him into Wartortle around the time they met Red.
Despite being stolen, Blasty becomes great friends with Green, both of whom have a cheerful and clever demeanor. Although Blasty initially appeared as a fellow con artist alongside his trainer, as Green was able to mature and find peace, so did Blasty. Like Blastoise, Blasty is a very strong Pokémon, a great swimmer and able to withstand even the most threatening attacks. As seen much later in the series, Blasty is also able to Mega Evolve into Mega Blastoise in order to protect the Hoenn region.
Blue's Charizard is disciplined and formidable
Charizard later travels to Kalos With Blue
Unlike the original Kanto starter Pokémon owned by Red and Green, Charizard belonging to Blue (sometimes known as Green) does not have a nickname. This is due to the fact that in the beginning Blue was not cruel to his Pokémon, but he was not friendly to them either. Rather, Blue only saw his Pokémon as teammates for battles, not friends, yet his worldview began to shift after meeting Red, who was great friends with his Pokémon and yet won countless battles.
By the time Blue entered his twenties, he was able to form true friendships with his Pokémon and began to treat those around him with more kindness, as noted by his famous grandfather, Professor Oak. Similarly, his partner Pokémon, Charizard, managed to become calmer and more trusting of individuals other than his trainer and party members, though he never lost sight of his amazing fighting abilities. In addition to mastering moves like Fly and Blast Burn, Charizard can also Mega Evolve into Mega Charizard Y, as seen during its time in the Kalos region.
Red was the first friend Saur Venusaur ever had
Saur teamed up with Red to save different regions
For an unknown amount of time, Bulbasaur lived in Professor Oak's Pokémon lab, although he was usually left in his Poké Ball on the table, away from the other Pokémon in the lab. Because of this, Bulbasaur was wary of humans and other Pokémon when escaping. However, thanks to Red's kindness, the lonely Bulbasaur was able to find his first friend and earned the nickname “Saur”. From that day on, Saur became not only one of Red's strongest Pokémon, but also one of his most loyal; the two can even fight without Red having to say a single command out loud.
Similar to Poli the Poliwrath and Pika the Pikachu, Saur is one of Red's most used Pokemon in a match. At the end of the Pokémon League, after his teammates were eliminated, it was Saur who worked the storm clouds left behind by his friends, as well as his signature Vine Whip attack, to defeat Blue's Charizard. Later, in the FireRed & LeafGreen arc, Saur not only mastered the rare move Frenzy Plant, but almost perished after saving Red and protecting him from Deoxys.
Mewtwo was created from the DNA of Mew and Blaine
Mewtwo later joins forces with Red to save the world
Mewtwo is not only the most famous legendary Pokemon from the Kanto region, but perhaps the most famous legendary Pokemon in history. The genetic Pokémon was created from Mew's DNA (as stated in the manga, specifically through the DNA of one of Mew's algae) by Team Rocket in an attempt to create the strongest Pokémon ever. In a way, their plan was successful, though Mewtwo later broke free from his creators' clutches and attacked nearby Cerulean City.
In the manga, Mewtwo is a mix of Pokémon and human DNA that comes from Blaine, a Fire-type gym leader in the Kanto region and former Team Rocket associate who wants to redeem himself by helping those in need. Even if the path to such peace is rocky, Mewtwo is able to find common ground with Blaine, especially since their union can take a deadly toll on both individuals. Later, when Red is called back to battle against Giovanni FireRed & LeafGreen arc, Mewtwo agrees to fight by his side. Mewtwo and Blaine also return X&Y arc where Mewtwo reveals that he can Mega Evolve into both of his currently known Mega Evolutions.
