Of all the hidden villages that exist in the world Boruto Konoha has always been considered one of the most powerful and is home to some of the strongest characters in the series. From the very first Shinobi God, Hashirama Senju, to the savior of the Shinobi world, Naruto Uzumaki, Hidden Leaf has proven time and time again that their ninjas are of the highest caliber. Still, many fans wonder if the new generation of warriors growing up within the city's walls is ready to preserve that legacy.
Despite being challenged by some of the most powerful villains in the history of the series, The Hidden Leaf was clear to readers. Boruto manga that there seems to be a lack of response from the Konoha forces. Much of the fandom believes that aside from a handful of prominent examples such as the titular protagonist, the Genin and Chunin of Konoha seem to have lost the fire that once struck fear into the hearts of the surrounding nations. Has the new generation of Konoha really lost its spark?
It's time to leave Naruto behind and accept Konoha's Next Hokage
Konoha will have a new Hokage. Naruto may never be Hokage again in Boruto.
The new generation of Konoha is extremely talented
Over the years, as Boruto manga and anime series were given time to develop properly, fans were disillusioned with the Next Generation members. Despite being the children of brave warriors who defended their world from threats like Madara or Orochimaru, considered to be some of the most vicious anime villains of all time, the children seemed to be much weaker than their parents at their age. While this argument can be understood, it is not true as the members of Konoha's newest generation are among the most powerful Genin and Chunin to have ever lived.
Team 7 is an obvious example, all children of some of the greatest ninjas in history who have shown their potential since their first introduction. The Boruto: Two Blue Vortexes the manga has only cemented the power behind these characters as Boruto, Kawaki and even Sarada are now leagues ahead of their parents in age. Still, they aren't the only younger ninja in Konoha who have shown great potential. While most of these achievements come from the anime's best filler episodes, each of the Hidden Leaf children has shown impressive skills.
10 Boruto characters who are beyond Kage level
Boruto characters are strong and many of them have even surpassed Kage level.
Some, like Shikadai or Inojin, were able to master some of their clans' most powerful techniques at an early age, as well as develop their own fighting style based on both of their parents. Chocho and Metal Lee, often overlooked for their softer natures, have already far surpassed their parents' level as Genin. Even Himawari, one of the youngest Genin in Konoha, was implied to have even higher potential than Naruto. Realistically, the next generation Genin and Chunin of Konoha are far above their predecessors in terms of brute strength.
Why does the new generation seem so weak?
During his childhood, Naruto and his friends faced powerful opponents who far surpassed them in strength and experience. Despite all the odds against them, the future Seventh Hokage and his comrades were always able to emerge victorious from the fight. This, along with the immense potential they displayed during the fights, made it easy for fans to see them as prodigies who would one day take the Shinobi world by storm. Unfortunately, the Boruto cast never got that chance.
From the very beginning of the series, the children of the next generation of Konoha have faced off against some of the most terrifying creatures in the universe, the powerful members of the alien Otsutsuki clan. Since these aliens were strong enough to overpower characters like Naruto or Sasuke, there was little to no chance that the children would ever be strong enough to defeat them on their own. When faced with regular, everyday Shinobi, Konoha's Genin proved more than capable of defeating them quickly and efficiently.
It's time to accept Naruto's greatest failure as the Seventh Hokage of Konoha
Naruto failed as Hokage. His biggest flaw was revealed in Boruto.
Unfortunately, with Boruto's story leaving the average Shinobi behind to focus on intergalactic threats like Jura and his group of God Tree Clones, it's getting harder and harder for the next generation to shine. They may be among the most powerful children in Naruto history, but they are still only children. It would be impossible for them to defeat someone like Isshiki, who forced Naruto to use his strongest technique, Baryon Mode, to barely win the fight.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex is currently giving attention to the new generation
Although it is an undeniable fact that the original Boruto the series largely underutilized most of Konoha Next Generation, its sequel, Two blue swirlsis slowly working to eliminate these problems. The three-year time jump not only brought amazing new designs, but also gave the kids time to grow and learn. The titular protagonist and his adopted brother Kawaki are the most obvious examples, given that they were already quite powerful. However, there are many more examples of massive growth among the Konoha Next Generation.
Inojin, the son of Ino and Sai, has proven himself to be a brave and resourceful warrior, not only because of his willingness to risk his life for his friends, but also because of his new ability: Mind-Body Transfer Formation. By far one of the most powerful new Jutsu in the manga, this technique allows him to attach to multiple targets and use their chakra network as an echolocation device. Only with this power were the heroes able to coordinate an attack against Mamushi.
Boruto: The Best Anime Fights, Ranked
The Boruto series is laced with exciting battles and thrilling fights. Here's a look at some of the best in anime.
Sarada and Himawari are also wonderful representatives of the potential of the new generation. The Uchiha girl awakened what could become the most powerful of all Mangekyo Sharingan techniques, Ohirume, which creates small black holes that decompose anything they absorb. Naruto's daughter was revealed to be the new Jinchuriki of the Nine-Tails and was hinted to be an even better partner than her father. While it may take some time, it is possible that the once underrated children of Konoha will soon rise to the occasion and prove their mettle in battle.
