Along with his unique ability to resonate with any weapon he can get his hands on, Franken Stein's experiments with Madness make him a particularly dangerous top tier champion that few can defeat.
Finding ways to use Madness as something to fuel his own power, Franken Stein introduces an army of clowns to his Legion of One during the War on the Moon. It's a shame the anime adaptation never gets around to this part, which would be one of the most iconic one man legion scenes in anime. With Maria Mjolnir's influence, Franken Stein also unleashes the Lightning Rope technique on someone as deadly as Justin Law, who gives way to Asura in the manga. Where the manga also measures Franken Stein's strength is in his mentoring role as he helps his students tune their power and grow into some of the strongest meisters the DWMA has ever produced.

The most diligent champion with an average chop
The anime missed much of Mako Albarn's character transformation and only scratched the surface of Makin's power potential. The manga explores the character's deepening mastery of Soul Resonance, unique form of Black Blood Armor, and evolving bond with Soul Evans, as well as the multifaceted aspects of her signature Maka Chop technique. As a result, if she had made it into an anime adaptation, the manga version of Maka Albarn would have made Maka break through and become one of the best female anime protagonists topping male protagonists and beyond.
In fact, when the manga leads Soul Evans to become the Death Scythe, Maka harnesses even more power as she creates a more balanced and subtle synergistic relationship with her Demon Weapon. While she may not be the strongest of the meisters, her Anti-Demon wavelength and her bond with her Death Scythe Evans soul is where her power is magnified. Her bravery makes up for her lack of physical strength as it allows her soul to expand to an almost godlike level, comparable to that of Death the Kid and Black Star at the end of the manga.

While the anime keeps Crona from entering the list of most tragic anime character stories, Soul Eater the manga portrays Cron as one of the saddest characters. After a series of stunning transformations, including the character's fusion with Ragnarok and the Black Clown, the manga develops Cron into one of the most powerful and dangerous meisters in Soul Eater universe.
It could be said that Crona has achieved the namesake of their Ragnarok Demon Sword, as the Black Blood opens the door to the character's immense power. Crona's power becomes almost godlike when the character manages to absorb Asura, but is unable to contain Asura's overwhelming power from within.
