Alfheim is not the friendliest place in the Nine Realms, and the constant war between the dark and light elves has left no love in the sand-swept and warring realm. Yet in the Forbidden Sands, there is love hidden in the Hafgufs, these seemingly mystical jellyfish creatures bound by love yet held back by ancient restrictions.
Kratos and Freya are on a mission to free Hafguf, and there are plenty of fun elves and puzzles waiting for players who take on this righteous task. In doing so, there is a beautiful reunion of love and also a clearer sky on the journey to the Forbidden Sands, which leads to more secrets.
5 Fit for a king

In the Nine Realms, players will find 9 tombstones, each holding the dangerous souls of vicious berserkers that Kratos must destroy to lay them to rest for their brutality. The Fit for a King favor works like this game's version of Valkyries, except that some of the fights have a significant increase in difficulty.
In some of the battles against the berserkers, Kratos will be outnumbered, and once players have collected all 12 berserker souls, they will be able to face King Hrolf himself, a violent and unworthy king who has diabolical power that must be laid to rest for Mimir's peace.
4 War casualties

Vanaheim has a rich jungle, but deeper within this realm lies the Crater, a vast location that contains three new areas to explore. In this sprawling location, Kratos and Atreus can encounter lost spirits courtesy of Casualty of War, in which they need help moving into the afterlife.
While most of these quests involve getting items, it's the story that should be of more interest to the player. Discovering what happened here and the epic and secret battle that took place between Thor and Faye when Mjolnir and the Leviathan Ax clashed all those years ago is truly something to remember.
3 Freya lacks peace
Help Freya resolve her troubled past as the wife of Odin and daughter of the Vanir

Freya didn't have it easy, and her journey mirrors Kratos' journey in more ways than one. As a Vanir, Freya suffered a great loss and her marriage to Odin was one of suffering and suffering. Freya lost her son, her life, and her freedom, all because of Odin, and Freya's Missing Peace side quest is where Freya finally gets to get some relief.
The quest itself includes records of Freya's wedding to Odin, and while there isn't much fighting, there's plenty of exploration and story worth discovering, especially since players can get one of Freya's best rune summons.
2 Defend your prowess
Battle against Odin's most loyal Valkyrie Queen

Remnants of Asgard are scattered throughout the remaining realms after Ragnarok, and one such remnant can be found in Muspelheim. But players will not find treasure here, but the ominous last Valkyrie, who rebels against her sisters and Freya, and will forever remain loyal to Odin.
This is perhaps the most difficult boss fight and Kratos and Freya must give it their all if they want to defeat the last loyalist of Odin's dying empire. It's a difficult and rewarding battle that has emotional stakes for Freya as the two Valkyrie queens have a deadly heart-to-heart.
1 Broken prison
Reveal the Asgard prison holding the real Tyr

Lurking after the credits roll is one of the best side quests where Kratos and Freya explore one of Odin's abandoned prisons that was broken from the destroyed Asgard. Inside the prison, players will find victims of Odin's manipulation and forgery, where Odin kept people locked away to disguise himself. A heart-wrenching tale of sacrifices and loyal Odins who must be slain, this is a prison worth discovering.
Also deep within the prison is the true Aesir God of War, Tyr, who comes not as illusion but as truth. Tyr has a lot of importance in the series, so finally freeing him is a nice reward, especially since players can now find him in new locations meditating with the knowledge he has from other pantheons.
