Where to find Mandrake in PEAK (Cryptogastronomy Badge)

If you thought achievements in TOP It couldn't get any weirder, the Roots update proves otherwise. Instead of climbing daring heights or surviving brutal storms, the new Cryptogastronomy Badge requires you to cook and eat a screaming plant known as the Mandrake. This guide will walk you through how to find, cook, and safely eat mandrake to earn your cryptogastronomy badge in TOP.

Where to find Mandrake in PEAK

First you need to find the Mandrake. To do so, you'll need to get to the Roots biome, which is a new map introduced in the Roots update. Until November 17, 2025this biome is guaranteed to appear after Shoreso it's the best time to go mandrake hunting before it turns with the tropics biome later.

Once you are in the Roots biome TOPstart searching bushes and pieces of land for medicinal roots. These orange, plant-like objects grow in clusters and are usually used as healing resources. Occasionally, if you pull one out, you'll find a Mandrake. It looks almost the same as the Medicinal Root, but has a creepy little face and immediately starts screaming as soon as you pull it out.

How to cook and eat mandrake in PEAK

Once you have the mandrake, it's time to cook it. The safest and easiest way to do this is with a Portable stovea common item found in the Shore biome. This stove allows you to cook anytime, anywhere.

If you want to get this badge, it's best to carry a portable stove TOP. If you don't have one, you will have to carry the Mandrake to the campfire as quickly as possible. Fires are usually located at the top of the biome or near checkpoints. Just be careful not to drop the Mandrake or pass out along the way.

When you reach a safe cooking point, place the mandrake on a stove or campfire cook it. When done, eat the boiled mandrake. Consuming it instantly unlocks the Cryptogastronomy Badge.
