Exclusive Switch Console 2025 now available on PlayStation and Xbox

Dark God 2 made its way to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, ending the Switch console's brief period of exclusivity. Coming to the PlayStation and Xbox Store, the strategy RPG is now available on half a dozen digital stores.

Developed by San Francisco-based Sword & Ax, the first A dark deity the game was released as a PC exclusive in June 2021 and then made its way to the Nintendo Switch in March of the following year. It is still a Switch exclusive to this day and has never been ported to any other platform. Its sequel debuted in a similar fashion, launching on PC in March 2025 before hitting the eShop six months later. However, the Switch console exclusivity was short-lived, lasting just over two months.

Dark Deity 2 is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S

Dark God 2 was released for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 on November 7, published by indie.io. The PlayStation and Xbox versions of the strategy RPG retail for $24.99, matching the price of their PC and Switch counterparts. As is sometimes the case with indie releases, PlayStation Plus subscribers can purchase Dark God 2 with a small discount, bringing the price down to $19.99 or 20% off. The launch offer is valid until December 5th at 9:00 AM PT / 12:00 PM ET / 6:00 PM CET. Meanwhile, the Xbox Series X/S port has been given a flat 20% launch discount – available until November 20 – with no strings attached.

Dark Deity 2 is likely to appeal to fans of the classic Fire Emblem

Dark God 2 takes place 25 years after the events of its Kickstarter-funded predecessor, which in 2020 raised over $74,000 from nearly 2,400 backers, surpassing its crowdfunding goal by six times. Mechanically, it still offers a tactical RPG experience inspired by years of gaming Fire sign franchise, pairing turn-based battles with dynamic unit recruitment paths and plenty of team building options. It also features a fantasy setting with a high story, 20 heroic units, 45 branching classes with unique abilities, and a retro pixel art style.

The A dark deity The follow-up campaign is fully voiced and features a main cast Persona 3 Reload actress Allegra Clark, who voiced Mitsuru in Atlus' critically acclaimed film P3 remake. The game emphasizes replayability through extensive customization options inspired by community randomizers that allow players to fine-tune everything from XP and gold gain multipliers to unit recruitment order and various combat settings, among others.

Although Dark God 2The arrival of 's Xbox and PlayStation Stores could indicate that its predecessor may eventually reach Sony and Microsoft consoles, neither Sword & Ax nor indie.io have given any confirmation in this sense. The game's publisher previously stated Dark God 2 was designed as a “fully self-contained adventure” that could be enjoyed without playing the original.
