The Black Ops bundle can cost $80

Activision is finally bringing Call of Duty: Black Ops and Black Ops 2 to PS5, complete with multiplayer and their iconic Zombies modes. These aren't remasters though – they're straight ports. Although both games are more than a decade old, they are expected to cost a total of $80, excluding DLC.

As noted by CharlieIntel, each game has received price updates on the Xbox Store ahead of its debut on PlayStation 5. They now cost $40 each, while individual DLC packs have dropped to $10 and the Black Ops 2 Season Pass has dropped to $30 – but cosmetic packs are completely free. So if you want the full experience of both titles, you're looking at spending around $160.

To give you an idea of how expensive that is for two 14-16 year old games, the Vault Editions for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and the upcoming Modern Warfare 4 retail for $99.99 each. The community is expected to be at Defcon 1 already.

“Typical Activision Moment”

“Needing to buy DLC in 2026 for 14+ year old Black Ops 1 and 2 is criminal,” replied @ModernWarzone. “All DLC should come with a new game purchase.”

“If it's true then I'm 0% interested,” said @itssp1rit automatically translated from Spanish. “I'm not paying $80 for two games from like 14 years ago that aren't even remasters, just ports. Besides having to pay for DLC, it's ridiculous – they had everything to succeed and they screw it up.”

Charging $40 for a 14 year old game is still the height of Activision, but hey, at least the skins are free now!

Others took aim at the franchise's recent record, with @WhosBreezyUK joining in: “It's ridiculous that BO7 was such an ass they had to make up the money they lost by charging $40 for two ~15 year old games.”

There are countless comments and posts like these, each reflecting the same frustration: $80 is too much for games this old, especially when they're straight ports, not remasters. It's certainly possible – as CharlieIntel pointed out – that the package will be launched at some discount. But if the base price is $40 each, without DLC, then this is truly a “quintessential Activision moment.”
