Shamrock Figarland, Shanks' twin brother, has powerful abilities and powers.
However, there are other shadow individuals lurking behind their shadows and they have tremendous abilities within them. These individuals are identified by Oda as the War Gods of the One Piece world and are none other than the Five Elders. At the end of the Egghead arc of One Piece, which happened recently in the anime, Oda has introduced a new god of war, and that is none other than Saint Garling Figarland.

The Five Elders are the highest ruling authority in the World Government under Ima. Fans have always known that they were incredibly important in terms of political influence, but few knew that they also had immense fighting power. It wasn't until the Egghead arc of One Piece that Oda finally revealed their names to fans as well as their powers, and it's safe to say that they are incredibly overpowered.
The five elders belong to the 20 royal families that make up the heavenly dragons. At one point, fans assumed that these families didn't actually have fighting power in Marijoa. However, in One Piece's Final Saga, it was finally made clear that not only do they have the power of knights, designated as Saint Knights, but the Five Elders are also powerful fighters in their own right. The very first elder that fans saw in combat was St. Jaygarcia Saturn, who decided to go to Egghead to deal with the threat of Vegapunk.

The powers of the five elders are quite unique. Each of them has a Contract with the ruler of the world Imu, which grants them tremendous abilities. The Five Elders are known to have the Abyssal Covenant, which grants them the power of regeneration, immortality, stops their aging completely, and allows them to use the Abyss Magic Circle.with which they can instantly travel to any place anywhere in the world.
Thanks to the power of this Abyssal Covenant, the Five Elders also received unique Yokai transformations. These Yokai are incredibly dangerous. In the case of Saint Saturn, fans know that he has Gyuki Yokai at his disposal. Similarly, the other Elders also have unique Yokai. Nusjuro has the power of Bakotsu, Mars has the power of Itsumade, Warcury has the power of the Boar Houki, and Ju Peter has the power of the Sandworm Yokai. All of these powerful elders are unique in their own way and their strength is such that Luffy, even with his Gear 5, could not defeat them.

It makes sense why the Five Elders are as powerful as they are. Not only do they have the strongest Covenant of Imu, but it's also very clear that Oda has marked them as special and called them War Gods. This shows that in the war that was waged in the Void Century against the Ancient Kingdom, those who fought the battles and then became Gods most likely began to be called Gods of War, and that is what the Elders represent.

At the end of the Egghead arc of One pieceSaint Jaygarcia Saturn eventually lost his life. This is because he let Niko escape and kind of failed his target on Egghead. Immu exacted a heavy price for this failure and eventually took away his Covenant powers, leaving his body a husk of bones and essentially dying.

When the Elders lost one character, someone new had to step up and take that position, and that was none other than Garling Figarland, the father of Shanks. Garling became the god of war of science and defense in place of Saturnand fans know that he has a very exciting role to play in the future of One Piece. Garling is already known to be very strong. In fact, Oda himself has stated that Garling has immense power and will be important later on.
By now, all fans know is that Garling has now received the Abyssal Covenant from Imu and that his abilities have been upgraded to the next level. Garling most likely also received a powerful Yokai Beast, meaning he is stronger than ever before. During the God Valley incident, Garling was powerful, but certainly not powerful enough to defeat Rocks. It was very clear to see that Garling lost the battle against Rocks quite badly. Still, he was the one who dealt the final blow to Rocks and eventually took all the credit and became the Champion of God Valley.
Later, fans saw Garling become stronger, as did everyone else. During the current timeline, Garling became Supreme Commander of the Holy Knights and now that he had become one of the Five Elders and accepted the Abyssal Covenant, he should be stronger than ever.
Oda reveals Garling's true worth in subsequent arcs
After his recent showing in God Valley, most fans underestimate how strong Garling really is. While the display in the battle against the Rocks was certainly embarrassing, the fact is that Garling was still quite young at the time and not at the peak of his powers. It has probably grown tremendously since thenand now that he got the new Covenant he should be a much bigger threat.

In the most important page of the Egghead arc, where Oda highlighted key characters in the Final Saga, Garling was also given special attention.. It is very clear that he has big plans for this particular individual. Garling is connected to the likes of Shamrock and Shanks, and that alone makes him extremely important. Oda will continue to play with his connection to the likes of Shanks and perhaps even create a phenomenal rivalry between the two individuals. For now, fans will have to wait and see what comes out of this Figarland Family plot and how War God Garling will affect the ending of One Piece.
