This article contains spoilers from Jujutsu Kaisen manga.
No character Jujutsu Kaisen matches the grotesque power of Ryomen Sukuna, the undisputed king of curses. He is the embodiment of pure malice, causing even the most powerful wizards of ancient and modern times to fall one by one against his merciless might. At the mere mention of his name, most characters unite in fear of his destructive power.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Gege has already revealed Sukun's two straight
Sukuna has two equals in the JJK series. Gege reveals their identities.
As an apex predator Jujutsu KaisenRyomen Sukuna embodies horror itself in its true form. With four arms, two faces, and a mouth on his belly, Sukuna looks less like a wizard and more like a living disaster that rules the world of Jujutsu. That's why his troubling form continues to raise questions about the significance of his four-armed appearance in the series.
Sukun's four-armed form inspired by Japanese folklore
Meet the Ryomen Sukuna of Japanese folklore
It's no secret that Gege Akutami draws inspiration from Japanese folklore, urban legends, and Buddhist mythology, from Death Painting Wombs to the names used for the various domain expansions in the series. Ryomen Sukuna is no exception, as its four arms clearly pay homage to the legendary Ryomen Sukuna of Japanese folklore, which first appeared in the 65th year of Emperor Nintoku's reign in Hida Province.
Much like the King of Curses himself, Ryomen Sukuna has four arms. According to legend, he is described as a 18-meter-tall figure with two faces, one in the front and one in the back, along with four legs that have knees but no heels. His appearance alone suggests that he had incredible power, strong enough to allow him to plunder people and even defy the Emperor's orders.
IN Jujutsu KaisenSukuna revels in the chaos and misery of others, almost as if Gege Akutami plucked the legendary Ryomen Sukuna from Japanese folklore and released him into the series to wreak unrelenting destruction. These two individuals share many similarities, from their numerous limbs to their merciless nature.
How Ryomen Sukuna gained four arms through his twin
Sukun's first arc of terror
Now that we know Sukun's folklore roots, it's time to look at the cosmic reason he has four arms. Originally, Sukuna was a human sorcerer, born to a human mother and father, making him fully human by birth. No man is born with four arms, not even in the world Jujutsu Kaisenso Sukun's other limbs must have formed while he was still in his mother's womb.
Sukuna's mother also did not have a healthy pregnancy as she suffered from severe starvation to the extent that even the unborn Sukuna and his twin were severely affected.
To make matters worse, there are twins Jujutsu Kaisen they are considered a single entity, with each twin limiting the potential of the other simply by existing. A perfect example of this is Mai and Maki Zenin, whose powers are inherently limited by their twin. Maki only enjoyed the full power of her Heavenly Restraint after Mai sacrificed her life, correcting the imbalance caused by their union.

When he returned to Sukuna, he ended up consuming his twin to survive, an act that may have bound their bodies together. As a result, Sukuna no longer faced the issue of shared potential that was holding him back, allowing him to fully manifest his power. In other words, he essentially consolidated all power into himself. While Gege Akutami never directly confirmed the exact reason why Sukuna gained extra limbs, it strongly suggests that the unnatural circumstances of his birth combined with his act of cannibalism contributed to his extra arms, eyes, and mouth.
Sukun's four arms provide an unmatched combat advantage
The deadly edge of Sukuna's four arms
Sukuna is the only character in the game Jujutsu Kaisen with four arms, giving him an advantage against other wizards who only rely on two hands. He can perform hand seals with his special arms while fighting his opponent head on, effectively casting powerful cursed techniques without interrupting his attacks and defenses. In short, he can unleash cursed techniques in rapid succession.
Additionally, Sukuna can easily deal with multiple opponents at once, even if they are on the same level as Yuji Itadori and Gojo Satoru. His extra arms made it easy for him to defend and attack at the same time, a feat difficult for other wizards limited to two arms to do.
Meanwhile, Sukun's extra mouth also allows him to cast spells faster than anyone else. His extra body parts simply allow him to multitask in combat and keep him always one step ahead of his enemy. Dealing with attacking pressure is a cake walk for someone like Sukuna, whose level of versatility is on a godlike scale.
