Chaos Reloader Shotgun
The best shotgun in Fortnite Showdown
Easily the best meta weapon right now Fortnite Showdown is a Chaos Reloader shotgun. At Uncommon rarity, the weapon deals a maximum of 143 damage to the body or 160 to the head, followed by a maximum of 173 body shot damage or 175 to the head for Mythic rarity. Body shot damage alone is some of the highest to be seen for any weapon in the current loot pool, and while the headshot multiplier is low to compensate, eliminating the potential for one-shot kills, the ability to hit such high numbers to the torso is an absolute steal.
The gun itself only boasts one round per mag, which may put some players off. However, the charging time is only 1.2 seconds, and also automatically reloads when saved. This means that players can fire, switch to the squirt gun for more damage, and switch back to the Chaos Reloader shotgun with the cartridge already loaded. What's more, those lucky enough to grab Mythic Dark Voyager's Exterminator will have two rounds loaded instead of one.

Nemesis AR
The best multi-purpose assault rifle
Nemesis AR from Chapter 5 is back for Fortnite Showdown and it's already proving to be one of the best all-around assault rifles out there. Nemesis AR is a constant fire weapon with relatively low recoil and boommaking it laser accurate both from the hip and when aiming down the sights. This gives it the versatility to perform well in long-range engagements while also being easy to use in melee to mid-range combat.
While its effectiveness up close puts it at odds with weapons like the Combat Assault Rifle, which easily overpowers it if your opponent hits all of their shots, its ease of use definitely makes it a top meta contender. The weapon also boasts excellent damage potential, dealing 29 damage to the body (43.5 to the head) at its lowest rarity, or 43 body damage (51.6 head) on Mythic rarity. The only major downside to the Nemesis AR is that it lacks a scope, which may put off long-range players.

Thunder Burst SMG
Mathematically the fastest killing weapon
In Chapter 5, the Thunder Burst SMG was a fan-favorite weapon in the loot pool, and now that it's back for Chapter 7 Season 2, it's already infiltrated the top three meta. The Thunder Burst SMG is a flash weapon that can absolutely be used at close range, extends its high damage potential and laser accuracy to mid-range. Her hipfire accuracy is also laser accurate, but the weapon requires a solid skill level to wield effectively.
The Thunder Burst SMG boasts exceptionally high damage, dealing a maximum of 31 body damage per shot at its highest rarity, followed by head damage 58.9. However, if all three bullets in a batch find their mark, the gun is mathematically the fastest killing option, deals a maximum of 248 damage per second on Mythic rarityor 192 damage per second on Common rarity.

Twin Hammer Shotgun
Easy-to-use shotguns with a high rate of fire
Twin Hammer Shotguns were a common melee weapon last season, and many players may be happy to know they've stayed around. Fortnite Settlement. As of now, some players may be ditching the Twin Hammer Shotguns altogether their damage per shot is lower than the other two shotgunsbut don't let that deter you from using them.
Twin Hammer shotguns have the fastest rate of fire of any shotgun and as a result have the second highest DPS, sitting just behind the Chaos Reloader Shotgun. Since players also have more rounds and a little more leeway when missing a shot, they are also an effective squirt gun, easy to use for casual players and still very solid in the hands of precision veterans.

Combat Assault Rifle
High DPS assault rifle for medium range firefights
The Combat Assault Rifle is another fan favorite and is a perfectly viable weapon in the Season 2 Chapter 7 loot. Combat Assault Rifle is currently the fastest DPS assault rifle in the gamehitting up to 167.20 damage per second at lowest rarity or 202.4 at Legendary. All this thanks to the high rate of fire of the weapon.
A combat assault rifle is easily one of the best weapons for mid-range engagementsalthough his high rate of fire gives him some flourish and knockback that can throw off ranged fights, it's still relatively low. He's also excellent up close when shooting from the hip and can spray structures with ease. If players are lucky enough to obtain the Mythic version, they will receive a variant that increases their rate of fire over time, giving them an incredibly fast-killing weapon.

Iron Pump Shotgun
The only true single shot shotgun
The last of the shotguns to launch Fortnite Showdown is Iron Pump, carried over from the previous season. As mentioned earlier, the average DPS of the Iron Pump shotgun is the lowest of the three shotguns. This is due to the weapon having a lower maximum body fire potential than the Chaos Reloader Shotgun and a slower rate of fire than the Twin Hammer Shotgun. However, for highly skilled players, especially in kits, the Iron Pump Shotgun definitely has a place in the meta.
Of the three shotgun options, it is the Iron Pump shotgun is currently the only true disposable weapon in Builds. As a Legendary rarity, Iron Pump can deal a maximum of 202 damage if players hit every bullet to the head, wiping out every player at full health. This makes it an exceptional weapon for use in boxing, but also gives the weapon an incredibly high skill.

Vector 7 DMR
Excellent long range weapon
Next up is the Vector 7 DMR, and unlike many of the other guns on this list, the Vector 7 DMR serves one specific niche. With scope and a slow rate of fire combined with heavy damage, the Vector 7 DMR is built primarily for long-range engagements. The weapon's damage profile is pretty solid, dealing at least 61 damage on Rare rarity (119 to the head) or 75 body shot damage on Legendary rarity (roughly 132 head damage).
Up close, the weapon is not worth using, but with the fact that it is semi-automatic and able to pick apart players from a distanceit's an excellent choice for those who want to defeat opponents without having to get close. This item will probably take the player's third slot next to the shotgun and squirt gun. However, this means you may have to sacrifice some extra healing or mobility to trigger it.

Ice King's Gauntlets
An excellent mythic item, but rare to obtain
Just managed to break into the current Ice King's Gauntlets meta the only item on this list not listed in rated. The Ice King's Gauntlets aren't necessarily the item that will carry your games, but when used effectively they are an excellent addition to your arsenal. Ice King's Gauntlets primary attack deals heavy damage, hit for 50 damage per shot while also boasting a splash radius. However, their range is limited because instead of being hitscan, they have projectile impact and travel time.
The ice attack is by far the most useful option in the arsenal, but players can also use an ice bomb by pressing the aim button. While this will lock the player into a charge animation that leaves them vulnerable, the resulting explosion can deal up to 65 damagefollows creating a blizzard that deals 5 damage per second to anyone caught inside. However, Ice King Gloves are incredibly rare, with only one available to defeat an Ice King that doesn't spawn every game in regular Battle Royale.
