Naughty Dog's lack of production reportedly a problem at Sony

For PlayStation fans, Naughty Dog's lack of a traditional title has essentially become a meme since The Last of Us Part 2 was released. However, this is clearly a problem for Sony's top brass.

At least that's according to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, a well-known insider with a strong track record.

In response to a user who called out Sony's hypocrisy for not allowing Bungie to start work on Destiny 3 due to budget concerns, Bluesky Schreier noted that this is also a problem for Sony in response to a user who allowed Naughty Dog to move forward with development on a unique title for years.

Schreier later clarified his comments, noting that Sony doesn't just have a problem with Naughty Dog.

It wouldn't need any clarification if people would stop just posting my responses out of context with wildly misleading tweets and headlines.

I reported that Sony didn't greenlight Destiny 3 because of the price. Someone said something about Sony having a problem with Destiny 3's pricing but not Naughty Dog's pricing. I said of course they have a problem with Naughty Dog's costs.

And that was somehow misinterpreted by wide swaths of the internet as Sony being mad at Naughty Dog? Absurd.

To this point, Naughty Dog has yet to release a “new” title since The Last of Us Part 2 in 2020. What's more, they have yet to release a new title on the PlayStation 5, a console that will be six years old in November.

The Last Of Us Part 2's chronological mode is just another desperate attempt to keep the series relevant

The Last of Us isn't just going away.

So far, their production has been limited to the PlayStation 5 port of Uncharted 4 and its expansion Lost Legacy, the second remaster of the first The Last of Us, also for the PlayStation 5, plus the remaster of The Last of Us Part 2, a title that could be played on the PlayStation 5 as is.

Naughty Dog has one big project in the works that we know about

Revealed at The Game Awards, Naughty Dog has a new IP in the works in the form of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. However, we haven't seen anything about the game since it was first revealed.

Since we're already hearing rumblings about the PlayStation 6, it's entirely possible that the game will be released there, or that it's a dual release. This would mean that Naughty Dog would essentially go an entire generation without an actual new title.

Last time I checked PlayStation Plus doesn't require RAM so why is the price going up?

Everything in video games keeps getting more expensive, including PlayStation Plus…
