Another major achievement in the world of video game piracy is that the first title released in 2026 was fully cracked by pirates. Resident Evil Requiem, a title that launched just 41 days ago, has been completely removed from DRM against tampering by Voices38, a prominent figure in the pirate community.
Requiem was previously released using the Hypervisor method, a new alternative to Denuvo-locked games that made waves in the larger pirate community. This method has greatly reduced the total number of games that are not played by pirates, although they are not considered “true” cracks due to their numerous workarounds and requirements.
The final puzzle in Resident Evil Requiem is a video game mystery worth enjoying
Players have finally reached the end of Resident Evil Requiem's final puzzle.
Requiem's crack comes less than a month after Doom: The Dark Ages, a 2025 Denuvo-locked title, became the first game of the year to be fully cracked, also by 38 votes. These achievements put Denuvo on the cutting edge as it strives to keep titles secure through its DRM software against unauthorized modification.
The battle between pirates and Denuvo never ends
On Reddit, voice38 noticed that Requiem, the title with Denuvo's latest software, only had two “new” features compared to what was present in the 2025 version when they cracked Doom: The Dark Ages.
It doesn't seem to affect their ability to crack more modern releases.
“Everything can be hacked,” they wrote in response to a question about whether the 2025 and 2026 games could be hacked, or whether Thursday's unveiling was just a proof of concept.
It's still the hardest title they've cracked yet, so don't hold your breath if a minute passes between releases or development.
However, that we've reached the point where it's entirely conceivable that a title coming out in 2026 with Denuvo could find itself in the hands of pirates within a few weeks is fairly unprecedented. In the past, pirates have patiently waited for developers and publishers to terminate their agreement with Denuvo, opening the game up to malicious means.
This is no longer needed, as evidenced by this recent development. Now it's just a matter of finding out exactly what Denuvo will do to try to combat the evolution of things moving forward. They are reportedly aware of these advanced piracy methods and are actively fighting against them.
