Saros reveals PS5 Pro enhancements

Saros It officially went gold earlier this month, which means Housemarque's next third-person shooter will launch in a few weeks. For those with the Pro version of the PlayStation 5, a new blog post from the game's creative director Gregory Louden revealed all the exclusive features and enhancements for the console. One of the key differences Pro users will be able to take advantage of is updated PSSR support. Following the recent release of PSSR 2 last month, Housemarque says Saros will have an even sharper image and that fans will “barely distinguish it from native 4K”.

Housemarque CTO Seppo Halonen also touched on how the studio increased the resolution of the base render for Saros on PS5 Pro, which is the resolution before upscaling. Halonen says this means gamers will have even clearer image resolution at 60 FPS. “While we use dynamic resolution to ensure a stable frame rate even in the midst of hectic battles, PS5 Pro always delivers a sharper image when comparing scenes,” said the developer. He goes on to explain that the PS5 Pro allows Housemarque to push the graphics Saros even further, with many small adjustments in reflections and overall quality, ensuring that the increase is not just more pixels, but also that the rendered content adapts.

One of the ways Saros builds on quality Return lies in the developed precision of 3D audio in the game, which according to Housemarque will enable an even more immersive experience on PlayStation 5 thanks to Tempest 3D AudioTech technology. “You can hear the lost Carcosa, enemies, and even our music when playing with 3D-enabled headphones or 3D sound settings,” says the game's creative director. He also notes how the studio uses the DualSense controller's adaptive triggers, which have also been taken to another level. When using the adaptive trigger on L2, pressing it activates the weapon's alt fire, allowing for alternative attacks such as grenade launchers, slower firing of heavy rounds, and more. Pulling L2 all the way down activates the Eclipse-powered Power Weapon, which allows players to hit hard with collected projectiles from your Soltari shield.
