Capcom's massive shooter 2026 continues, and Pragmata, the long-in-development sci-fi shooter, is now finally out, joining the likes of Resident Evil Requiem, Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, and Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection already released this calendar year.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword, the first new Onimusha title in two decades, will also be released at some point, making it a year that Capcom lovers can't miss.
Pragmata is a triumphant story of love, grief and learning to let things go
Capcom's first new IP in decades is a wonderfully adorable sci-fi adventure.
Pragmata's review scores are already among the highest in 2026, making it a potential Game of the Year contender by the end of the year. But what about his player count? Well, thanks to SteamDB, we have some information about it.
As a new IP, Pragmata is sticking around, at least on Steam
Currently, Pragmata has opened to 56,905 players on Steam. That number has since dropped to 38,228 active players, though with the time zones that shouldn't be too much of a concern.
This number is higher than what Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection peaked at when it launched on March 13. Twisted Reflection peaked at 54,778 players and has since dropped to 3,426 in the last 24 hours. It's also higher than Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection, which only hit 2,851 players and reached its all-time high.
In terms of Capcom games as a whole, including demos and trials, Pragmata is the 14th most popular game on Steam by highest number of players. That's pretty good considering Pragmata is a new IP.
Unfortunately, these numbers pale in comparison to what the modern Resident Evil games have accomplished. Right in front of Pragmat are Resident Evil 3 Remake, RE 2 Remake, RE Village, RE 4 Remake and Requiem, all titles released in recent years and in the case of Requiem this year.
Also on this list are Dragon's Dogma 2, Monster Hunter Rise, Monster Hunter: World, and Monster Hunter Wilds, as well as Street Fighter 6, Devil May Cry 5, and Capcom Arcade Stadium 1 and 2.
The Capcom Arcade Stadium games are freely available and their add-ons are relatively cheap, so the numbers are a bit skewed.
It doesn't help that Pragmata was cracked days before release using the Hypervisor method, a bypass Denuvo itself is aware of. This may have affected some of his sales.
Again, these are PC only numbers, so we'll have to wait for the console figures, but Pragmata is doing pretty well by our count.
