The Last of Us Part 2 shocked us when it revealed how bad Joel was at golf. You know what I mean. A character we've all grown to love has been brutally killed off, leaving a huge hole in our hearts, regardless of whether you like Pedro Pascal or Troy Baker's portrayal of her more.
While both were great as Joel and brought their own ideas to the character, Baker undoubtedly set a great foundation along with the game's writers. Some fans will never get over the loss of Joel, but Baker thinks we may not have seen the last of him.
Troy Baker thinks we'll see more of Joel
In an interview with Eurogamer, Baker talked about how much he loved Pascal's portrayal of the character he once played and how great HBO's The Last of Us turned out to be in the end. “The show is much bigger, there's a lower barrier to entry,” he said. He later added that he “loved” Pascal's portrayal.
“I really applaud [game creator Neil Druckmann] for being able to go 'yeah, let's do this show,'” he said. “He knew that Joel and Ellie's story was pretty important, and sometimes you have to bring a mountain to a man. There's going to be people who would never pick up a remote and never experience that story, and what a tragedy that would be. So let's bring it to them.”
There is no excuse for not casting a trans actor as Leo in The Last Of Us
Cisgender woman Kyriana Kratter has been cast as the trans character Lev in HBO's The Last Of Us.
He added that he hoped Pascal would bring something new to the table in terms of playing Joel, admitting that he did so in every episode. “I hope Pedro is not the last to play Joel,” he continued. “I want this character to expand and recur in different mediums, whether it's TV, film, other games, comics. I see people cosplaying as [Joel] all along… he had influence.
“I definitely know we haven't seen the last of Joel, whether it was Naughty Dog or someone else.
