Last year, at The Game Awards 2025, a new Star Wars racer was announced from Fuse Games, a team made up of former Criterion developers who worked on Burnout and Need for Speed. However, the only release date news was a broad window of 2026, but a recent post on Steam just leaked exactly when we can expect to get our hands on the game and be reunited with Sebulba.
If you've been living in a swamp for the last year studying the Force with a little green man, Galactic Racer is a 12-player arcade racing game set in the Star Wars universe that features a complete single-player story complete with pod racing. It's not even an open world game, but a traditional racing track.
As Wario64 noticed earlier today, the October 6th release date was posted and quickly removed from Steam. It can be seen in the key image of the standard and deluxe editions next to the “pre-order today” banners, so it's unlikely to be a placeholder. Instead, it appears that Fuse Games and publisher Secret Mode accidentally let the release date slip a bit earlier than planned.
