i played Pokemon Legends: ZA for a long time due to several factors: it came out at a time when I really wanted a new one Pokemon The game I played I really enjoyed the live battles competitively, had a limited Pokedex that gave me motivation to fully shine it, and featured a lot of new Mega Evolutions. I think out of my 685+ hours in the game I've spent at least 300 shiny hunting and I want to say I've reset another 20 or so with Asha since the DLC came out. Despite all this time in Pokemon Legends: ZAi didn't finish every single thing it offered, especially some DLC quests, DLC Pokedex, and some legendary or mythic quests.
I recently returned to the game to get an exclusive Pokemon Legends: ZA Mega Floette pro Pokemon Championsbecause I haven't finished sifting through Infinite ZA Royale for Challenger tickets yet. I thought I would eventually come back for the likes of Zeraora and Mega Zeraora, Marshadow, Magearna, and other legendary or mythic Pokemon, but it seems that time has come. Today, Pokemon Legends: ZA has released a new promotion that will allow you to get a shiny Volcanion in Pokemon, though not entirely without effort.
Want to catch them all? Here's how to find all Legendary and Mythical Pokémon in Legends: ZA
Pokemon Legends: ZA Mega Dimension DLC brings back several Legendary and Mythical Pokemon, and here's how to catch them all.
You can get Shiny Volcanion in Pokemon Legends: ZA, but there's a catch
The problem is that you can only get Shiny Volcanion inside Home of Pokemonand then you have to finish Pokemon Legends: ZA's Pokedex, his Mega Evolution Pokedex, and the Hyperspace Pokedex. It's not exactly easy, and even though I've already completed the base game's Pokedex, I'm barely halfway through the DLC. I focused on getting all the pokemon I wanted first and immediately started hunting them so I wouldn't have to do it later. I'm glad I did, but it took a little too long for my liking and I eventually stopped grinding for the remaining species.
Now I found myself starting Pokemon Legends: ZA again a little over a week after getting the Eternal Flower Floette and its Mega Stone, and I'm not exactly happy with the state of my Pokedex. I've caught 97 pokemon out of 132, but the ones I'm missing are mostly from special scans like the ones that let you get Latios and Latias and other shiny Legendaries. Pokemon Legends: ZA. Not only that, but these are the Pokemon I've registered in the Pokedex, not necessarily the ones I have in the game.
The reason it matters is that Home of Pokemon the promotion to get a shiny Volcanion only applies if you meet the following criteria:
-
You must have a Home of Pokemon account linked to your Switch games
-
You must have Home of Pokemon mobile application
-
Yours Home of Pokemon Switch and mobile accounts must be linked
-
You must have all species registered Pokemon Legends: ZA's Pokedex in Home of Pokemonmeaning you have to convert every Pokemon in the Pokedex individually at least once and they must come from Pokemon Legends: ZA originally to make it work
-
Repeat the process for Hyperspace Pokedex v Pokemon Legends: ZADLC
-
Make sure you have all Mega Evolutions in you Pokemon Legends: ZA and its DLC unlocked in-game to complete the Mega Evolution Pokedex once the respective Pokémon are transferred Home of Pokemon
Getting Shiny Volcanion in Pokemon Home is a huge waste

It follows that even though I've completed the base game Pokedex and a good portion of the DLC Pokedex, I don't have one Pokemon per species in the boxes for the entire base game Pokedex and DLC Pokedex, so even the mons I've already caught I'll have to catch again just for this. This makes getting a shiny Volcanion a bit of a pain if you don't already have all the Pokemon, and it can be especially problematic for special Pokemon scans in the DLC.
However, this is the first time since Volcanion's launch that it can be obtained as a shiny. Unfortunately, Shiny Pokémon are still a thing, and many creatures remain in the series without a Shiny form. Fans can now check off a list item, but more shiny locked Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and even the previous games remain, with Victini being one of the more infamous. Part of me looking forward to actually finishing the Pokedex Pokemon Legends: ZA now, but I'm not too happy with the grind, which will require having one specimen of each species in the game and its DLC to carry over Home of Pokemon.
