While Amazon is busy chasing the next James Bond, 007 First Light will bring the MI6 agent back to video games after years. The game will focus on Bond's earlier years and reveal how he reached the famous 00 status. He will be played by Patrick Gibson, who looks like the youngest version of the agent that we have seen in any form.
Speaking to Radio Times Gaming (Thanks, GamesRadar) at the 2026 BAFTA Awards, Lennie James, who plays John Greenway in First Light, said that Amazon should consider Gibson for the lead role after seeing his performance in the game. While it will depend on the film itself, James thinks the people responsible for casting would be “crazy” not to consider him.

“He's fantastic in our version of Bond and I really think he should be in the running for the lead role that they're trying to find someone for,” James said. “I'm sure he's being considered. The people in charge would be crazy not to be considering him.” Given how No Time to Die ended, a younger James Bond could be just what the series needs.
James' character Greenway is in charge of reviving the 00 program at MI6, with Bond as his latest recruit. Given his role, James might actually be able to speak with some authority when it comes to what goes into playing Bond. Hopefully, Amazon executives considered casting the role to someone who had already played the character.

As for Gibson's other work, he is best known for playing young Dexter Morgan in Dexter: Original Sin and has also starred in shows like The Tudors, Shadow and Bone and The OA.
While focusing on a younger version of the character, 007 First Light will stick to Bond tradition by featuring a title sequence like those in other films. It will be sung by none other than Lana Del Rey.
