Saros is getting a new free download for May 2026

AND Saros a player has discovered hidden codes on the PlayStation game page that allow a free download of the recently released roguelite game from prestigious developer Housemarque. At the time of writing, it's unclear when or if these codes will expire (they probably will), so Saros players should make sure to claim them through their PlayStation as soon as possible.

While such attention for Saros not surprising, it's quite fun to imagine how many people missed it. In short, you can find the code on the PlayStation Store page by clicking on the “Call Eclipse” button. Doing so will trigger a short animation, after which players can click “End Eclipse” to clear the code. The code varies by region, so those who don't want to run the code themselves can find it below:

Saros vs. Return: Which game is better?

Housemarque's Saros and Returnal provide similar, roguelike experiences, but one game has an edge over the other.

The above codes can be redeemed in the PlayStation Store or the PlayStation app to claim the 6 pack Saros PSN avatars for the game, with the first one styled after the protagonist Arjun (played by Rahul Kohli) and the other five being bosses that fight in the game. The hidden codes were apparently found by Yvan Dureve of Chocobo Plan, who also created the preview image above. To claim on the PlayStation Store, select a profile, select redemption codes and carefully enter the above code for your region to apply the content to your account.

Easy (15s) Medium (10s) Hard (5s)

It's a simple gift, but it's free, and nothing is free in today's economy. Such a code will no doubt be highly coveted by PS5 owners, as while Sony and Housemarque have yet to release any sales figures (it's not even been a week since release), it's likely to be selling well. Return reached a relatively small but still powerful audience, and Saros is probably just as good if not better than that. It's certainly more affordable and has more direct support from Sony, so it'll be interesting to see how it all pans out in the long run.

For those considering picking it up, it's a pretty easy recommendation as one of the best PS5 exclusives out there. It's also a strong start to the year given the current PlayStation lineup for the year, which also includes the highly anticipated Marvel's Wolverine by Insomniac Games.

As GameRant executive editor Dalton Cooper wrote in our Saros review,”[It] is an excellent, heart-pounding action game that is easily one of the best PS5 exclusives. The combat is exciting and Carcosa is something to explore. Quality of life features make it more accessible than Returnand while this may annoy some purists, it does help Saros avoid some of the frustrating pitfalls that roguelite games sometimes fall into. Saros is one of the best releases of the year and a must-have for PS5 players.”
