Almost a full year after the original demo launched and blew us all away, Dead as Disco has finally launched in early access, bringing with it a ton of new content that shows what kind of game it will end up being.
Dead as Disco originally featured just a few songs to battle through and the option to record your own, but now it's got the start of a proper single player campaign and plenty to keep track of. Here's what you can expect.
How long does it take to beat story mode in early access?
The main thing that was added to Dead as Disco in the early access period is the first part of his campaign, in which Charlie Disco goes up against his former bandmates, known as the Idols, to try to reunite them and find out how he died. There are currently four idols in Dead as Disco's early access releasewith each having their own dedicated stage and boss battle.
These boss battles are epic affairs, but they aren't very long on their own, with each taking approximately 20 minutes to defeat. If you just want to lose these boss battles, you'll have about two hours of Dead as Disco as it is right now.
Dead as Disco currently has no achievements, which will change when it finally reaches its 1.0 version.
However, these boss battles are far from all the single-player content included in the Dead as Disco Early Access. Infinite Disco has been updated to include lots of challenge mapswhich tasks you with fighting into a certain track with conditions attached. There are over 30 of these challenges and they are easily add another four or five hours to Dead as Disco if you want to beat them all.
How long does it take to complete in Early Access?
Once you beat an Idol in Dead as Disco, you'll find them back in the game's hub world, the Encore Bar, and you can learn more about them by talking to them. This is where the campaign opens up its replayability, like every Idol will require specific items found by playing levels or completing challenges.
This motivates you to replay story missions to collect collectibles and advance the story with Idols. The Encore Bar itself can also be upgraded and brought back to life with trinkets and fixeswhich you will need to purchase using fans earned by completing levels. The fans are used too buy clothes and upgrades from Charlie's skill tree.
If you want to do absolutely everything that has early access Dead as Disco right now, you're easily looking at over 15 hours of gameplay. I've already spent so much playing the game and still have tons of collectibles, outfits to unlock, and skills to buy, so if you're willing to put in the time, there's a lot more to Dead as Disco.
That's not even talking about how much time you can spend importing your own tracks into Infinite Disco mode, which is what kept the demo alive for so long.
What other features are included in early access?
The official Steam page for Dead as Disco shares the roadmap and all current plans for the game as it aims to launch 1.0 sometime next year. These planned features include more Idols, proper ending, hard mode, co-op, more music, more skills, BPM detection for recorded tracksand much more.
Suffice to say, Dead as Disco won't be getting any bigger until next year, as the developers clearly have a lot planned for the game. We'll keep updating this guide as more and more content is added to the game, but there's still a lot to do in this first launch of Early Access.

Dead As Disco is already dangerously close to being my game of the year
Even in early access, Dead as Disco is shaping up to be the absolute best.
