On an episode of Giant Bombcast, Jeff Grubb said that the next Nintendo Direct will take place in mid-June, noting that he is not aware of the exact date. Summer Game Fest starts on June 5th, and Grubb speculates that the Nintendo Direct should take place sometime around the same time frame. He also noted that he was unable to determine whether it would be a general Nintendo Direct or a Partner Showcase. However, Grubb seems to gravitate towards general Direct due to his proximity to other industry shows.

If the Nintendo Direct is indeed set to take place in June, fans shouldn't have to wait too long for an announcement. Switch 2 owners have a lot to look forward to in the next few months, but it looks like it's time for Nintendo to pull back the curtain on the rest of 2026 and beyond. Pokemon winds and waves should help sell a lot of Switch 2 consoles in 2027, but there needs to be more in the meantime. Hopefully fans will see some new software to help them feel justified in purchasing a Switch 2.
