The popular trading card game from Wizards of the Coast has gone full throttle with its crossover content, with a number of new collaborations released throughout 2026. Wizards of the Coast has already confirmed several upcoming collaborations that will be released as standard expansions, including sets based on Marvel Super Heroes, The Hobbitand Star Trek. Recent Magic: The Gathering leak officially reveals Captain Kirk's new card, Boldly Going by Star Trek file. Captain Kirk is a Human Officer Legendary creature and costs one white, green, and blue mana to cast, along with one generic mana. Captain Kirk offers a powerful mana ramping ability when entering the battlefield or attacking either a basic land or the new Starship Enterprise card, while giving Spacecraft creatures +3/+3. The leak also reveals that the Captain Kirk card is part of the Commander for subset Star Trekand probably serves as the “face of the commander” of the pre-made deck.

The new Captain Kirk card gives more hints about what kinds of cards he can focus on Star Trek file. Magic: The Gathering expected to introduce more cards in the recently introduced Spacecraft Artifact type Star Trek's focus on interstellar travel. Captain Kirk's second card ability also hints at another card that is likely part of the captain's pre-made deck, referencing a card based on the starship Enterprise. Magic: The Gathering'with Star Trek the crossover will likely follow suit from another recent space-themed set. Edge of Eternities, released in August 2025, launched as Magic's take on the space opera genre, taking inspiration from franchises like Star Wars. The set introduced the previously mentioned Spacecraft cards, along with a major change to the Commander format, allowing both Vehicle and Spacecraft cards to be used as Commanders. Star Trek will debut as the final set of a year full of major new expansions Magic: The Gathering. Wizards of the Coast has already released two new space sets in addition to the ones mentioned above TMNT crossover that returns to a pair of fan-favorite settings in Lorwyn and Strixhaven. Magic also has one more space set planned for 2026, with Reality Fracture focusing on the story of popular planeswalker Jace and the parallel universe he created.
