Amuro Ray is quite possibly the greatest pilot Gundam mobile suit history and the Newtype prodigy who won the One Year War for the Federation by masterfully piloting the RX-78-2 – otherwise known as the White Devil. Amuro is so skilled that RX-78-2 couldn't even keep up with his growing abilities back in the original Gundam. To call Amuro a living legend would be the understatement of the Universal Century.
Before Amuro returns Zeta Gundamhis talent is far above everyone in the AEUG, even his former rival Char Aznable (now in the guise of Quattro Bajeena) and Kamil Bidan, a deep-set Newtype piloting a much superior Mobile Suit. Between Gundam 0079, Zetaand Char's counterattackAmuro pilots some truly impressive mobile suits, all made that much more powerful by his unmatched abilities.

Not every fighter can handle Gundam battles, but these talented pilots effortlessly dominate the battlefield.

Guntank
Gundam Mobile Suit 0079
The crew of White Base had no choice but to use everything and everyone at their disposal to survive the One Year War during the events of Gundam Mobile Suit 0079. While the Guntank is not a mobile suit that Amuro often uses, he occasionally pilots it in the original anime. Unlike other mobile suits, the Guntank is designed to be operated by two people, a major flaw in its design.
While Amuro uses the Guntank here and there based on White Base needs, the suit's signature pilots were Ryu Jose (until his death) and later Hayato Kobayashi. After Ryu's death, the Guntank was upgraded to require only one pilot. All that being said, the Guntank isn't a particularly impressive mobile suit, with major drawbacks such as surprisingly low accuracy and poor mobility.

Cannoneer
Gundam Mobile Suit 0079
The Guncannon is a prototype Mobile Suit much like the Guntank, but unlike its brother, the Guncannon is actually quite powerful and useful. The Guncannon also suffers from surprisingly poor mobility, but is extremely durable to make up for its lack of agility. The Guncannon is durable enough to survive a full frontal assault from Rick Dom, and has enough artillery to blast through Zakus.
IN Gundam Mobile Suit 0079Amuro uses the Guncannon during the Ramba Ral arc to take out several Ral Corps. While Guncannon is stronger than the average Zaku, it is no match for Gouf, as evidenced when Ramba Ral nearly kills Amur during their second fight. While Amuro can use the suit better than anyone else at White Base, the Guncannon's signature pilot is Kai Shiden.

RX-78-2 Gundam
Gundam Mobile Suit 0079
The granddaddy of all Gundams, there's a reason the Zeon soldiers ended up giving the RX-78-2 the nickname “White Devil”. The RX-78-2 Gundam is stronger, faster, and much more durable than Zeon's Zaku II, while being advanced enough to keep up with Goufs, Gelgoogs, and even fight Char's Zeong to a stalemate. It should be noted that much of the RX-78-2's success in the latter half of the One Year War came from the Amur's awakening as a new type.
This means that the RX-78-2 has been designed to get better with more use. The Gundam's learning computer means that the RX-78-2 is always adapting to Amur's growth as a pilot and the progressively improved Zeon technology. In terms of weapons, the RX-78-2 is equipped with a beam saber, vulcan pistol, beam spear, hyper bazooka, shield, and hammer, giving Amuro more than enough options for any encounter. RX-78-2 was destroyed in the Battle of A Baoa Qu, but he certainly took Zeong with him – a hugely impressive feat that speaks to Gramps' sheer strength and resilience.

Rick Dias
Zeta Gundam mobile suit
Rick Dias has the notable distinction of being the only mobile suit regularly piloted by Amuro Ray and Char Aznable in the Universal Century timeline. Rick Dias is a mass-produced mobile suit used by the AEUG during the Gryps War in Zeta Gundam mobile suit. While Amuro is initially reluctant to re-enter the mobile suit after the end of the One Year War, when he finally returns to action, he takes off several times in Rick Dias.
Like the RX-78-2, Rick Dias has a wide variety of weapons to choose from, including a beam saber, grenades, a beam rifle, a beam pistol, and a bazooka. Rick Dias uses the Argama throughout the Gryps War, eventually being reserved for pilots like Amuro who no longer use their own personal suit. Interestingly, Rick Dias uses Char's personal Rick Dias, which he abandons after obtaining the Hyaku Shiki. As powerful as Rick Dias is, Amuro is the main reason he has so much success piloting the suit.

Gundam director defends himself by watching 140 episodes of anime to understand new movie
Sorcery of Nymph Circe is a sequel to three anime series and two full length movies, which begs the question, can you just jump in and watch the movie?

Dijeh
Zeta Gundam mobile suit
After his opening story ends Zeta Gundam mobile suitAmuro eventually decides to start piloting again and joins the AEUG (though fighting exclusively on Earth). When Amuro finally returns in the second half of the year Zeta Gundamhe no longer runs Rick Dias and trades the mass production unit for his most bizarre and overlooked personal suit, the Dijeh. Dijeh is to Amur what Gelgoog was to Char, except for using a naginta instead of a saber.
Amuro's time with Dijeh is short, as Kamille and Quattro return to space shortly after Amuro's final appearance, but it's a powerful suit designed to thrive in ground-level combat. The Dijeh also stands out as being the only Amura personal suit that follows the Zeon design philosophy instead of the Federation philosophy. In terms of performance, the Dijeh is comparable to the Hyaku Shiki and Zeta Gundam, and received a major boost from being piloted by Amuro.

Honorable Mention: Alex
War in your pocket
The RX-78NT-1 Gundam NT-1, nicknamed Alex by the Federation Forces, is the main mobile suit of the 10-year anniversary OVA. War in your pocket. Amuro never actually saws Alex, but it's technically one of his mobile suits since the NT-1 was specially created. for Amuro to pilot during the One Year War. Alex was built for Amuro based on his specifications while piloting the RX-78-2 and his awakening as a Newtype.
If Amuro really got to Alex, he would be able to sweep the rest of the One Year War without much effort, including Char's Zeong. Alex was engineered to match Amuro as a Newtype, so much so that a non-Newtype piloting a Mobile Suit would not be able to use it to its full potential. That's exactly what happens to Christina Mackenzie in the end War in your pocketwhere she eventually manages to destroy the NT-1 during the final battle of the anime.
2
Re-GZ
Char's counterattack
Re-GZ is Amuro's first mobile suit Char's counterattackand looks and feels like a main moss Gundam anime fans have never seen. The Re-GZ was designed by Anaheim Electronics as an alternate, simpler version of the Zeta Gundam Kamille piloted during the second half of the year Zeta Gundam mobile suit. The Re-GZ is a highly specialized mobile suit that boasts high speed, performance, durability and a great set of tools.
Unfortunately, Char's Rebellion marked a turning point in Mobile Suit warfare where Psycommus and Psycho-Framed became more common for Newtype pilots. Lacking one of them, Re-GZ struggles to keep up with Chara's Sazabi even when piloted by Amuro. Re-GZ is eventually defeated by Char at the beginning of the film and later completely destroyed by Hathaway Noa at the end Gundam Mobile Suit: Char's counterattack.

Well Gundam
Char's counterattack
Nu Gundam is Amuro's ultimate Gundam and one of the best mobile suits in the entire franchise. Based on the specs and designs from the RX-78-2, Zeta Gundam, ZZ Gundam, and Psycho-Frame data that Char leaked specifically to better fight Amuro, the Nu Gundam is an absolute beast. Strong, fast, durable and versatile, the Nu Gundam's weapon set and funnels make it borderline impossible to put down.
Amuro is doing so well in the Nu Gundam during the final battle in the Char's counterattack that Char directly regrets giving the Federation his Psych-Frame data. The Nu Gundam ends up beating Sazabi so badly that Amuro physically carries Chara's cockpit during the film's climax. The combination of Nu Gundam's sheer power and Amura Newtype's abilities end up causing Axis Shock at the end of the movie, saving the Earth from destruction by the Axis. Although not piloted by Amuro, the Nu Gundam made its last appearance at the end of the year Sorcery of Nymph Circe during Hathaway's final fight with Lane.
