Pokemon Pokopia DLC brings new details

Pokemon Pokopia is getting an expansion pass later this year, and some of the DLC coming to the game has been teased thanks to new artwork shared by retailers. Popopia was released for the Nintendo Switch 2 earlier this year and is the first exclusive Pokemon a platform game.

Pokemon PokopiaThe DLC was revealed in a recent Nintendo Direct where a few details about Bubbly Basin were offered. The first part of the expansion pass will give Ditto the ability to use Dive, allowing players to build locations underwater. This content will arrive in August, while the second part will arrive later in 2026, and the final part will arrive in 2027. So far, Nintendo and The Pokemon Company have shared little information about the other DLC packs.

Pokopia's new art teases future content

Fans will have to wait until August for that Pokemon Pokopia DLC, but the expansion pass is now available for purchase at various retailers. New art accompanied these retail listings, highlights Popopiathe addition of Manaphy and Popplio, as well as Ditto's diving ability. However, the art also has a potion for future content showing Snubbull and Peakychu. Snubbull hasn't been officially announced for the game, but what's more interesting is that both Pokemon can be seen in different outfits.

In the art, Snubbull is seen wearing a yellow bow tie, while Peakychu has a white pair of wings on his back and some kind of hat. This is already leading to speculation that players will be able to dress up Pokemon in their games after the DLC is released. Costumed Pokemon were included Pokemon Go flight and a dressed up Pikachu was shown off Winds and waves. It wouldn't be surprising if Popopia's DLC allowed players to get clothes and customize their inhabitants, as it seems like something that would be of interest to many players.

More information about the DLC should be revealed over the coming months, possibly in future Nintendo Direct presentations. From Pokemon winds and waves won't be out until 2027, it looks like Nintendo and The Pokemon Company will continue to lean Popopia meantime. The expansion approach should keep players invested Popopia while they wait for the next major entry in the series, which could help it continue to generate interest during the holiday season.

The main line Pokemon games tend to sell very well, but not every spin-off is nearly as successful. There were many games that didn't get that much attention, but Popopia was a great success in 2026. More than four million players have purchased the game, making it one of the best-selling games on the platform. Nintendo clearly sees the game as a seller of the system, as Popopia is now bundled with the Switch 2.
