Xbox According to industry sources, it may have suspended its third-party Game Pass offerings as part of its current restructuring efforts. The troubled gaming gargantuan has fallen on hard times over the past few years, leading to a slew of layoffs, a failed rebranding attempt, and other issues. In the midst of all this, Xbox Game Pass has remained structurally intact, though that too may change.

Xbox adds flexible new Game Pass options
It looks like Microsoft's flagship gaming subscription, Xbox Game Pass, could be getting more flexible options in the summer of 2026.
Although there were alleged plans to expand Xbox Game Pass earlier in 2026, the latest word is that the opposite may happen instead. TheGamer reported on the Business of Video Games Podcast, Arrowhead Studios CEO Shams Jorjani and Fernando Rizo's Kaboodle Games, where the pair discussed First Playable, a recent industry trade show held in Italy. In the podcast, Rizo said that “Word on the street is that a lot of people who have been in the loop on the Game Pass deals, you know, nothing has been written yet, but the deals have been in an advanced stage of discussion, everybody's got the rug pulled out from under them.” It appears that Xbox has effectively suspended third-party Game Pass offerings, which is a strange turn of events to say the least.
