Live-action adaptations of video games have been one of the biggest trends in Hollywood and Amazon in recent years Fallout the series turned out to be one of the best. Fallout has a specific identity that's hard to properly adapt, but the streaming hit has really managed to push the franchise's particular brand of humor. The first two seasons gave Fallout games an even bigger audience and now the main question that many are waiting for is when the 3rd season will be ready.
Unfortunately, this may take some time. We're currently in an era where television takes a long time to push out projects, with two or more years between seasons. The higher the production value increases, the longer it takes to bring the series to the destination a Fallout Season 3 may require a fair amount of patience. However, there is still good news. Based on the production cycles of the 1st and 2nd seasons, it may be much easier to determine when the next season's starting window is.

Using past seasons of Fallout as an Oracle for the Season 3 launch window
Fallout Production on Season 3 began in May 2026, but that doesn't mean everything will go according to plan. Making movies and TV shows is a long and complicated process, and there are plenty of unexpected issues that can cause problems in the process. Fallout Season 1 and Season 2's Production Timelines
- season 1 – Production started in July 2022 and broadcast in April 2024
- season 2 – Production started in November 2024 and broadcast in December 2025
There was a few more months between the first season's production cycle and the air date than it was Fallout Season 2, but the inconsistency doesn't mean it's impossible to make an educated guess about the Season 3 premiere window. Based on these two chapters, there will more than likely be a year to a year and a half between filming and air date.
Spoilers ahead Fallout season 2
Fallout Season 3 will most likely be in the fall or winter of 2027
It's possible that Season 3 will come out next summer and repeat the shorter timeline of Season 2, but the sheer scope of the story makes a fall or winter window a more likely scenario. If Fallout The season 2 finale made it clear that production will be even more complicated and expensive. Ghoul heads to Colorado (and potentially the Enclave headquarters) in hopes of finding Barb and Janey after their cryo chambers were found empty in New Vegas, tasked with bringing the production to life in a brand new setting.
Meanwhile, Lucy and Maximus have reunited, but still find themselves in New Vegas, which is on the brink of a massive war as Caesar's legion begins its march on the city. Between the new setting and the big battle, there's going to be a lot of work going into Season 3, and those important moments can easily turn film and TV production into a much longer process. Fallout Season 3's story is expected to be even bigger than its predecessors and hopefully worth the wait.
The only game in the franchise that features Colorado is Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel. Although it inspired the series' change of scenery for Season 3, only specific parts Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel are considered canon.
The Wait for Fallout Season 3 may be as endless as Crossing the Wasteland, but it has a silver lining
While Autumn/Winter 2027 seems ages away at the moment, it's not all bad news as Fallout 76 at least the updates are there to keep fans occupied until the premiere is here. Late 2025 even brought the Burning Springs update to the game, which introduced The Ghoul as a reward-giving NPC complete with official commentary by the one and only Walton Goggins. It's not an ideal situation, but it's better than nothing.
Plus, it's also more than likely a shorter time than waiting Fallout 5issue date. Bethesda has been incredibly tight-lipped about the next main game, which is a shame, as the developer could be missing an ideal window to capitalize on the show's success. This window of time will only last for a limited time, so only time will tell if Fallout 5 will be released while the live action series is ongoing.
Rumored Fallout 3 and new Vegas remasters must be released before Season 3
Rumors and leaks of information, etc Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters have been circulating for years at this point, and Xbox member Jez Corden recently claimed that the wait for these games may also be longer than expected. Bethesda has been working on a frustratingly slow timeline ever since Star field it debuted to lukewarm feedback in 2023 and left me wanting more Fallout and The Elder Scrolls that much stronger. at this rate Fallout 5 it might not arrive until the 2030s, so hopefully Bethesda can bring fans these anticipated remasters before Season 3 comes out.
Recent interviews with Todd Howard about Fallout they were incredibly vague. This has become his MO over the years, understandably so. Notification The Elder Scrolls 6 too early probably inspired him to be as secretive as possible about future projects. The first and only trailer for The Elder Scrolls 6 it was revealed at E3 back in 2018. Since then, E3 has died down and Bethesda hasn't revealed any new information about the game.
The Fallout show is carrying the franchise at this point, and Bethesda is hopefully planning more than the expected Fallout 76 update before the eventual release of season 3. FalloutThe next chapter can always bring the unexpected and come out sooner, but it's important to keep realistic expectations. If nothing is planned before Season 3, it will be a huge content drought that will make the wait even longer if Fall/Winter 2027 is the exact timeline.
