The beloved Castlevania collection is getting a new update

Popular Castlevania Dominus Collection received a new update patch for December, which brings with it all sorts of content and various bug fixes. A popular collection that consists of various games from Castlevania storied history of the franchise, now features a brand new mode for one of its games and includes new ways for players to view the screens of the titles they are playing.

Released by original developer Konami in August 2024 Castlevania Dominus Collection primarily consists of Castlevania titles released on the Nintendo DS. This includes Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, and Castlevania: Order of Ecclesiawhich are considered to be among the best Castlevania games in the series. The Castlevania Dominus Collection also includes 1988 arcade games Haunted castle together with the new version of the so-called Haunted Castle redesignedthe latter of which is probably the recipient of the largest portion of the content update.

Given Castlevania Dominus Collection's popularity over one glaring Castlevania dropping the title, Konami has now released Castlevania Dominus Collection ver. 1.0.3 which adds a brand new Boss Rush Mode Haunted Castle Revisited. However, the new mode has a bit of a caveat as players must first beat the game to unlock the new mode. The patch also adds a new display layout that allows players to reposition different screens due to the dual-screen nature of DS titles. Several bugs have been fixed, although exactly what they were remains a mystery.

Castlevania Dominus CollectionThe October update added new artwork for the Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia along with a bug fix for Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. The previous patch interestingly reintroduced a small glitch Castlevania: Portrait of Doom which veteran players use as an exploit, with the update jokingly referring to it as a feature.

Even though it's been ten years since Konami released the original Castlevania title in the form of 2014 Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, The IP made its mark through crossover content. The most recent example happened quite recently with The surviving vampires' An ode to Castlevania DLC, which adds over 20 characters from Castlevania franchises, including those included Castlevania Dominus Collection. This brings a full circle moment for The surviving vampires adding content and characters from IPs that the game is heavily inspired by. WITH CastlevaniaIt's seemingly undying popularity has fans still hoping for a brand new original title one day.

The Castlevania series was originally developed by Konami and started on the NES with the release of Castlevania in 1986. It is a long-running series and has even been turned into an animated series for Netflix. The series of stories follows the iconic Belmont family as they fight against Dracula and his horde of bloodthirsty minions.
