It continues exactly where the first season left off, as if two years have not passed since the last airing of this anime in 2023. Therefore, it is recommended to go back to the first season to catch up and grind through, which will not take that long, and it will be a joy.

Watching advice aside, season two Castlevania: Nocturne it may not be as strong as the first one. There were fewer surprises and new characters, but on the same note, there's still plenty to love Castlevania fans out there. So let's go rate the sheer entertainment level of all eight episodes Castlevania: Nocturne.
Spoilers ahead for Castlevania: Nocturne Season 2
8
The Widow's Widow (Episode 3)
Tera begins to show her humanity
episode three, “Widow Widow,” is one of the slowest of the season, not much going on. It mostly focuses on Tera trying to be a mother to Maria again and teaching her that she's not a danger as a fresh vampire. Juste doesn't believe her, which starts a cold but very short fight between Tera and Juste.
The ending execution of the King of France kind of comes out of nowhere, but thickens the plot with Annette. What kind of devil is he seeing when the dead are around him? The third episode opens up some questions but doesn't offer much in the way of entertainment value.
7
Into The Abyss (Episode Five)
They will, they won't
The fifth episode Castlevania: Nocturne, “Into the Abyss,” is another slower one that picks up steam towards the end of the season. Alucard leaves Annette and Richter to find allies in the remnants of the French resistance group in the city. Maria almost turns into a vampire by choice, but her mother refuses.
This is also the episode that shows how Erzsebet Bathory ends up becoming the Vampire Queen by drinking Sekhmet's blood. Finally, Annette and Richter almost kiss, but are interrupted by Annette's unsettling ghostly ancestors surrounding them. The fifth episode is important, but fans won't remember much about it, other than moving the plot forward.
6
Ancestors (Episode 6)
Diving into the realm of the gods
“Ancestors,” the sixth episode is mostly about Annette following her into the realm of the gods. He hopes to find Sekhmet's master soul to get a chance to fight against Erzsebet and all her powers. It's methodical and important, but it's another episode that isn't full of amazing moments.

Here is a breakdown of the origins of the video game characters that appear in Castlevania: Nocturne.
The best part of the episode is the beginning, when Maria finally regains control of her beasts with the help of darkness. There's also a fun flashback to when Richter and Annette were training as kids, which is animated in a different style to make it look more like a crayon.

Angel of Death (episode two)
Delve into Drolta's Backstory
Drolta was one of the main vampire villains in season one and she who died at the hands of Alucard. In the second season, she is revived at the end of the first episode. second episode, “Angel of Death,” begins with the story of Drolta as an Egyptian priestess who watches over the tomb of Sekhmet. After killing the vampire, she too becomes one who will watch over her mistress forever. That's part of this episode's big story reveal that's good to get some context for.
Another big reveal was that Richter has returned to Juste to ask for his help, and he obliges. It was good to finally see Juste fighting again, even if he wasn't at his best (unlike his debut adventure on the Game Boy Advance, Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance). Overall, Drolta's story is good, as is her final fight, and just seeing Juste again is a confidence booster.
4
Great Heroes Series (Episode Eight)
We leave our heroes on a high note
“Line of Great Heroes” something like The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, in that it has many endings. The battle that ended in episode seven continues here and is quickly resolved. This leaves most of the episode dealing with the characters in the aftermath.
It's also setting things up for a third season, but if that never happens, fans won't be too disappointed and won't be left with any giant anime cliffhangers. While about two-thirds of the episode isn't filled with heart-pounding excitement, Richter gets a memorable bummer when he executes Drolta. It keeps the series in a good place while also leaving the door open for more.
3
Living Legend (Episode 1)
Resuming the plot
The first season opens with an amazing fight scene that features Alucard in flashback. He searches the depths of the Egyptian tomb, searching for Sekhmet's corpse to hopefully crush some of Erzsebet Bathory's power. It's an exciting opener, but the rest of the episode is more plot-driven as it goes through the main cast and re-establishes their situation.

Maria is sad because of her mother Tera. Tera comes to terms with being a vampire. Richter is upset that he was defeated last season, but is glad that Alucard is there to help and all. The wildest part “Living Legend” is the end when Drolta is revived as a new demon by the infernal machine The Abbot.
2
Monstrous Things (Episode Four)
Mariana Patricida
“monstrous things” it has a lot of good things going for it, not the least of which is the final fight in the french museum. While the choreography is killer, there's another moment that surpasses almost everything that happens in season two. Maria, wild with anger at the abbot for turning her mother into a vampire and creating monsters herself, goes to the abbot's church to kill him.
As Juste tries to calm her down, Maria doesn't listen and instead sets the humiliated father on fire with her summoned dragon. The look in her eyes is unsettling and the animators did a great job conveying that Maria is losing herself in that moment. It's a striking image that would make a great desktop wallpaper.
1
Grenadye Alaso (episode seven)
The climactic battle
The second season followed up on the events of the year “Grenady Alas,” and the majority Castlevania seasons have great finales. It's just weird that it came in episode seven and not episode eight because that episode is almost all action.
The battles are fought from all sides of the city and they are all well animated as well. The budget is clearly visible here, and if this episode doesn't get the blood pumping, then no anime. From Maria's magic dragon to Richter's whip cracking to Alucard being just the best, this is a fantastic episode and an absolute highlight Castlevania: Nocturne season 2
