After 4 Years, One Piece Lines Up A New Mythical God Transformation

In the Final Saga of One PieceMythical Zoan transformations have become more important than ever before, especially since the creator of the series, Eiichiro Oda, has started to throw more focus on the various gods and deities that exist in the world. After the official arrival of Sun God Nika after 800 years in One Piece chapter 1044, which was officially released on March 23, 2022, in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #17, powerful Mythical Zoan forms have only increased in number.

Now, in the climax of One Piece's Elbaf arc, which has officially marked the descent of Nerona Imu in the country and set up the greatest battle in the series so far, Eiichiro Oda has lined up a new Mythical God transformation that could potentially even go on to rival Luffy's Nika form as well as Nerona Imu's Devil God Form. This Mythical God form is none other than Loki's hybrid Nidhoggr, the full reveal of which is now just around the corner.

One Piece Lines Up Loki's Hybrid Mythical Transformation To Rival Luffy's Gear 5 After 4 Years

Loki was officially introduced in One Piece chapter 1130, which was released in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump, Issue #47, on October 21, 2024. Since then, Loki's importance in the Elbaf arc, as well as the final saga of the story, has grown dramatically. Right now, he stands tall as one of the most important characters in Elbaf, and it wouldn't even be a stretch to call him the deuteragonist of this entire arc, only behind Monkey D. Luffy in terms of importance. At the moment, Loki is fighting Nero Ima and, in doing so, trying his best to protect the whole country against the threat of the Devil God of the world. Loki is utilizing the power of his Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Nidhoggr, which is a legendary Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit granting the power of the former Warrior God of Elbaf from the Void Century.

Utilizing this power, Loki has shown the capability of transforming into a giant black dragon that dwarfs every other dragon that exists in the world of One Piece. This dragon also has the ability to manipulate lightning and has enough strength to destroy the entire world, making Loki one of the strongest characters in the entire series.

So far, however, Loki has only shown his Full Zoan transformation. As is the case with all Zoan Devil Fruits, Loki also has a hybrid Zoan form. This would allow him to keep his humanoid body while using the power of his Devil Fruit in the same compact form. This transformation will grant Loki higher mobility but keep his power level incredibly high, making him a much better fighter. This form would stand as one of the strongest Mythical God transformations that Eiichiro Oda will officially reveal in the Elbaf Arc.

Why Loki's Hybrid Nidhoggr Could Potentially Surpass Sun God Nika

As things stand, Loki is already a rival to Luffy's Sun God Nika form, and this is clear from his display against Nero Ima. While the likes of Zoro and Sanji were easily overwhelmed by Nerona Imu and weren't even taken seriously by him in One Piece Chapter 1180 on April 20, 2026, Loki was not only able to tank multiple hits from the Devil God of the World but, at the same time, was able to land powerful hits of his own. Loki is incredibly powerful as he is, and his performance against Imu is better than anything that Luffy has shown in his Gear 5 so far. However, once Loki taps into the Hybrid form, his overall performance in battle is going to improve dramatically due to the superior fighting power offered by this Devil Fruit.

As things stand, Loki holds one of the best Mythical Zoan Devil Fruits in the entire series, with Luffy's Sun God Nika form being his only true rival. In fact, a case can be made for Loki's Devil Fruit to be even more destructive, given that this fruit is said to hold the power to destroy the entire world. In One Piece Chapter 1175, which was released in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #14 on March 2, 2026, it was officially confirmed that the previous Warrior God of Elbaf was an even match for Sun God Nika long ago in the past and thus came to be respected and worshiped as a God. Quite clearly, Loki's powers should be equal to those of Monkey D. Luffy, if not even greater. Once he taps into his strongest form, Loki is going to bring forth the true power of the Warrior God of Elbaf and show Nero Ima why he was destined to eat this Devil Fruit.

Loki's Mythical God Form Could Be Awakened To Make It Even Stronger

Interestingly enough, Loki's Devil Fruit ability has not been awakened just yet. As is the case with all Devil Fruits, Loki's Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Nidhoggr, can also be awakened. In One Piece Chapter 1046, which was officially released in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #11 on April 11, 2022, Kaido described Awakening as the true potential of a Devil Fruit being unlocked when the mind and the body of the user catch up with the ability itself.

It appears that Loki has not reached that state yet and will go on to attain it at some point in the future. Loki, post-awakening, is going to be a completely different beast and potentially even go beyond Luffy's Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika Awakening, that is, Gear 5. By awakening his powers, Loki is going to get a unique transformation, which is typical of Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit users. This was confirmed directly by Yonko Kaido in One Piece Chapter 1045 and demonstrated by the likes of Monkey D. Luffy in Chapter 1044, Rob Lucci in Chapter 1069, and Kaku in Chapter 1069 as well.

Just like all these other powerful users, Loki's post-Awakening powers will be on a completely different level. While he might be inferior to Nero Imu in terms of overall abilities right now, after Awakening, he is going to be on a completely different level, making for the strongest Mythical God transformation in the entirety of One Piece.
