Witch fire doesn't like to hold hands, especially when it comes to understanding how elements and status effects work. You can combine different elements activate powerful effects which play a huge role in mid-late content, as clearing high gnosis areas (familiars, bosses, vaults, etc.) is heavily dependent on how optimal your loadout is.
The good thing is that almost every piece of equipment (weapons, spells, relics and rings) comes with a single elemental effect. You just need to know which ones to combine before adapting your game accordingly. Unfortunately, Witch fire it does not list all combinations of elements or explain what they do. This is intentional, due to its rogue-lite nature. While some elements are fairly simple to understand, others can be confusing, so the following guide will have you ready to defeat the witch hordes in no time.

All elemental status effects in Witchfire
Witch fire has four status effects, one for each element, that can be applied to enemies in multiple ways. You get elemental status effects by unlocking light and heavy spells. Some weapons like the Rotweaver have Mysterium 1 status effects by default, while others like the Midas and Hailstorm need to be upgraded to Mysterium 2 or 3.
Your magic items (relics, fetishes, rings) also have status effects, but they take a while to unlock depending on your class Witch fire. Finally, don't forget about certain environment objects that can be triggered to cause a status effect.
Enemies can also apply status effects, but they affect the player slightly differently depending on the element.

Every elemental weapon, spell, and item
Almost every piece of equipment Witch fire is associated with a certain element. Most of them can be explored from the Workshop, while others require you to enter a new area or defeat a boss after leveling up your Gnosis. Therefore, regardless of your loadout, you will always trigger an elemental combo unless you stick with a single element.
Because some combos are much stronger, you need to know which weapons, spells, and items belong to which element. This allows you to decide which device to unlock and upgrade.
