Since Luffy can turn and twist his body in any way that he can imagine thanks to his devilish fruit, it means that it can be extra creative when it assumes a new form that increases its strength and durability. In the anime and mango community, this is always a huge moment when Luffy releases a completely new form. But even though it is easy to initially focus on their strength and new abilities, their suggestions are also going on a long way to prevent these transformations to not forget and unique.
The author Eiichiro Oda cooked several incredible designs for many forms of Luffy all over One piece story. Everyone differs in terms of overall detail and quality, some of which are much greater closure than others. Given that Gear 5 is now a permanent addition to Luffy's Power UPS arsenal, it seems just to think about each of these forms from a strictly visual point of view to find out where Luffy looks best.

Nightmare Luffy
Cartoon monstrous appearance that appears only for one fight
-
First appearance: Episode 370
Nightmare Luffy is a form that appeared only once during an intense battle for protagonists with Gecko Moria – an impressive, albeit lazy member of Shichibukai. To record it enough to take over the submissive giant Moria, known as ORZ Jr., Luffy absorbs hundreds of shadows. His whole body grows to cartoon dimensions and his skin turns blue to refer to the classic Frankenstein monster.
It feels as if ODA could wrap even more horror links in this design, but it is still a unique Luffy look. It is really terrible because of its size, along with the average frown that will never leave Luffy's face. Adding a sword on the back of Luffy is a nice touch, along with a strap that stretches over his chest, so he looks like a real undead adventurer.

Gear 3
Basic but unforgettable form where Luffy depicts its creativity
-
First performance: Episode 304
When Luffy starts blowing in his finger, it is an immediate sign that the opponent should start preparing a escape plan, because it is a signal that he is going to release the devastating Gear 3. Gear 3 is incredibly strong and can cause serious damage to Rob Lucci. But from a visual point of view, ODA decided to maintain this form nice and simple.

Some members of the Straw Hat crew have gained a new form during their adventures, and these are among the best in terms of overall design.
Flowing Luffy's hand into such a stunning size is a fun way to show the potential of his rubber body. It also shows its creativity in that it is able to conjure up an experimental form that can complete this work without being too flashy or over the top.

Gear 4 tank form
This cheerful but impressive tank form strengthens Luffy's defense
-
First performance: Episode 806
Luffy experimented with his Gear 4 regime so much that he eventually managed to divide him into several undergrowers, one of which was his defensive tank form. When activating this technique, Luffy expands until it becomes a giant round ball of rubber. Adding red flames of Haki, who got into his body, forces him to look more like a fiery ball of rage, causing a strange but interesting design.
Many fans also appreciate this form as one of the few showing Luffy Goofier's side and leaving it a little easily, while still emphasizing its basic power. Luffy doesn't have to throw this form very much these days, but it still threw people away when he first appeared against Cracker.
4
Gear 2
The first real Luffy power supply brought small but effective visual accessories
-
First performance: Episode 272
While Gear 2 does not change the look of Luffy too much, small accessories that are added, such as Luffy's boiling red skin and steam coming from his body, perfectly represent the immense power of this pirate, even at this early point in the story. Assuming that this form, Luffy always has a deadly serious look at his face and adds to the intimidation factor. This is one of the many reasons why it has become an iconic transformation.
The steam rising from the body of Luffy in Gear 2 is a gentle but simple way to emphasize Luffy's bubbling power rising to the surface and evokes fear in the eyes of anyone with the unfortunate to stand against him.
3
Gear 4 Boundman
Full of great details
-
First performance: Episode 726
When Luffy was pushed at his limit against the scary Shichibukai known as Doflamingo, he revealed his long -awaited device 4; Specifically, his form of his border. This form accepted every fan with surprise not only by its strength, but also its design. Luffy looks in this form, with its popularity on his arms covered with black and red haki, and his chest spread through a red fire pattern on the collar.

Transformations are synonymous with Dragon Ball, and while many of them are incredibly epic, some are also frightening.
It wasn't the only time that Luffy used Boundman in the story, which makes sense because he strengthens his overall speed, allowing him to run circles around the most difficult opponents. From the design point of view, it is one of the best Luffy and probably the most famous of all its transformations.
2
Gear 4 Snakeman
Combines strength with speed, leading to epic design
-
First performance: Episode 870
If Luffy tries to add a little more speed and accuracy to his attacks, he can assume a snakeman. This form sees him to be slim, and still retains the huge power offered by the reflective man. As a result, his arms are still covered with dark red Hakim, but once a noticeable change is Luffy's hair that begins to float in the air, showing how lights and agile become.
Gear 4 Snakeman feels like the most divine Luffy he ever looked up before GEAR 5. The revelation is considered one of the most famous moments of the post-timekip of the story. It is an incredible design that makes a good job to make Luffy look intimidating, so much that Katakuri was impressed.
1
Gear 5
Only changes enough about Luffy's appearance while maintaining basic functions
-
First performance: Episode 1072
The expected Gear 5 did not disappoint when it first arrived during Luffy's final meeting with a dangerous Kaid. The spectators had to look at the streamlined but creative design that feeds on Luffy's goofy and entertaining loving personalities. With Luffy's hair, the pure white and in the shape of inflated clouds, along with the white circular shape surrounding his body, represents the protagonist as some other word that leaks omnipotility.
While Luffy's appearance is undergoing quite general repair, he still retains some of his key features to remind fans that it is still at the core of the transformation – especially a cheesy smile that is even wider than usual. There is no doubt that, despite the performance in the story, Gear 5 will always be mentioned as one of the most visually most interesting and creative designs in the series.
