Jackie O ‘strips off’ for Naked Sundays 2024 skin cancer awareness campaign

Jackie ‘O’ Henderson has “stripped off” as part of a sizzling new skin cancer awareness campaign.

The popular radio host bared all for Naked Sunday’s annual “Giving Melanoma The Cold Shoulder” crusade, aimed at educating Australians on the dangers of going into the sun without SPF.

Henderson, 49, shared several seductive photos alongside a poignant reminder for her 276,000 followers.

Australia has the highest rates of melanoma in the world. One Aussie dies from the skin cancer every 6 hours with almost 17,000 diagnosed every year.

In one photo, the KIIS FM radio-host can be seen glancing over her bare shoulder, with her blonde hair cascading down her back as she’s wrapped in nothing but a sheet.

While in another, the mum-of-one – who had a skin cancer on her face removed in 2019 – is seen alongside her best friend and Besties business partner Gemma O’Neill.

“I’m a huge advocate for using sunscreen and getting your skin checked!! I’ve spoken recently about having a number of skin cancers removed,” Henderson wrote.

“Taking care of our skin is so important which is why my bestie and I at @bestiesau have partnered with @naked_sundays to promote their cold shoulder campaign.

“Gem and I are both very fair and are big believers in putting on sunscreen every day (and we make our kids do the same – even if they grumble!).”

She added: “Naked Sundays will donate 10 per cent of all sales to melanoma research and finding a cure, which is an added incentive to grab your sunscreen and take care of your skin, regardless of the season.”

Fans have been quick to praise the radio star, who co-hosts with shock jock Kyle Sandilands, labelling the “hot” images “powerful”.

“What a powerful message,” one shared.

“Jackie you are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen,” another commented.

Chrishelle Stause, one of the lead star’s on the hit Netflix show Selling Sunset, is also part of this year’s initiative.

Stause, who is married to Aussie singer G-Flip, has stripped off in bed to make a statement about skin cancer.

“Protecting your skin is so important with so many people I know being affected by skin cancer,” she wrote.

“That’s why I think it’s so important to wear your SPF everyday, with stats showing it can actually decrease your chance of skin cancer by up to 50 per cent.”

Samantha Brett, who launched the Aussie sunscreen brand in January 2021, said the initiative has “raised tens of thousands of dollars for melanoma research” since it launched four years ago.

“Having such a powerful skin safety advocate like Jackie O stripping off and speaking out about her skin cancer journey is both incredible and inspiring,” she told news.com.au.

“We are truly grateful that she has come on-board for our annual ‘Give Melanoma the Cold Shoulder’ Campaign, as unfortunately so many young people think that skin cancer won’t affect them.

“This campaign is a pertinent reminder that skin cancer can affect any one of us, and is a stark reminder about the importance of having your skin checked regularly.”

Brett, a former Sunrise reporter, launched Naked Sundays after seeing two colleagues have skin cancers “cut out of their faces”, and warned the deadly condition can affect anyone – even the young.

Recent statistics show 20-39 year olds are most at risk of melanomas with 95 per cent of melanomas caused by overexposure to UV radiation from the sun.

“We can never be too safe around the sun, or wear too much sunscreen,” Brett shared.

“The whole reason Naked Sundays exists is to encourage the younger generation to love and want to wear sunscreen.

“Since I launched the brand, our entire ethos has been working towards reducing the rates of skin cancer and melanoma, something I am truly so passionate about.”

In previous years, Australian stars including Nadia Bartel and Pip Edwards have posed “nude” as part of the campaign, which also encourages others to join in the fun by posting a “cold shoulder” selfie and sharing their personal stories
