Key things
- Baldur's Gate 3 finally has mods on console since yesterday with the arrival of Patch 7.
- To celebrate, Larian Studios and Spud Gun Studios released an official animated short in which a modding wizard wreaks havoc in the titular city.
To celebrate the mods finally coming to consoles, Larian Studios teamed up with Spud Gun Studios on the official Baldur's Gate 3 animated film, bringing back the talented cast for a quick round of Dungeons & Giant Rabbits.
The three-minute cartoon shows the modding wizard wreaking havoc on the titular Baldur's Gate, even messing with our crew. Gale gets a Smash Mouth blonde haircut and a glock, Karlach has a Let Me Solo Her-esque pot on his head, and Shadowheart vomits rainbows.
Fighting the evil of the hobbyist who doesn't care about immersion, the horror Wyll pulls out a lightsaber, Astarion procures some purple flames, and Shadowheart wields a magical baguette. But of course, a baguette is far from enough, and she quickly became a cat woman. You can watch the whole video here:
Worst of all, Lae'zel gets a human nose
One of the defining characteristics of githyanki is their small, flat nose. Lae'zel even mocks the usual humanoid snout, but since launch there have been a lot of mods that obfuscate the cast and strip away their unique features.
The most popular of these, innocently called “alternate faces”, gives Lae'zel a series of human noses… looks bad.
Rogue wizard, you've gone too far!
So it's only fitting that Larian Studios pokes fun at these modders in a new animation, giving Lae'zel a humanoid nose to watch her panic in real time. But he gets his revenge with an Evil Dead-esque chainsaw hand, just as Vlaakith would have wanted.
