Battlefield 6 is quietly removing bright blue skin with an evil smile

Battlefield 6 RedSec's battle royale mode has completely changed the game. I don't mean the new gameplay that the mode introduced, but the massive amount of microtransactions that came with the first season update. Most of the goodwill fans had for it disappeared after being greeted with a massive wave of monetization opportunities.

With the game's review scores dropping, Dice will likely have to deal with this issue at some point. Until a few days ago, the only issues developers had to deal with were smaller maps and brightly colored skins – both of which are relatively easier to deal with than the monetization system that seems to be woven into the very fabric of Battlefield 6. If it's any consolation, the bright blue Wicked Grin skin is gone.

If you fire up Battlefield 6 right now and explore all the microtransaction options, you'll notice that the Wicked Grin variant of the default NATO assault gear has been quietly removed by the developers. This may vary depending on the area you're in, but it looks like the dice have either permanently assigned it or reintroduced it with toned down colors.

It wasn't until a few days ago that fans noticed that some of the other color skins in the game had been tweaked to look more grounded. Specifically, the look with the neon green trim and layering that looked like the Monster Energy collaboration was changed to make the green much darker and more like something you might actually see on the battlefield.

As for the Wicked Grin skin, the overall outfit itself was nothing to complain about. Perhaps the developers could simply adjust the brightness of the blue to be more in line with what the players requested. Fans on Reddit showed their appreciation to the developers as it shows that they really listened to the community.

Hopefully this is just the first step in Dice addressing the overall issues the community is having with Battlefield 6, though don't get your hopes up for monetization features.
