In most Bethesda games, there is an affinity system that determines what companions like and dislike about the main character, and Fallout 4 is no exception in this regard. Companions will judge a lone survivor based on what actions they take, which metrics are a little weird to watch and not really that clear for players who want to lure a companion of their choice but don't understand why they won't fall in love with a lone survivor.

Bethesda is known for many things, but character animation is definitely not one of them. Even revealing the trailer for Star field showed that Bethesda was still pretty weak in that department, the characters looked as wooden as ever.
