Elton John’s openness with his sexuality, as well as his philanthropic work, has made him a significant LGBTQ+ icon for this generation. As well as establishing the Elton John AIDS Foundation, John’s relationship with David Furnish, following a marriage to a woman, was publicized, displaying his earnest personal journey.

This Elton John Sim is particularly impressive, especially when it comes to his facial features, which have been recreated incredibly accurately. The flamboyant outfit, colored glasses, and various accessories are also well-chosen and exactly what fans would expect to see him wearing during a concert.

Lady Gaga

Mother Monster

Singer and actress Lady Gaga is an outspoken advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, as well as being a member of the community herself, as she has always been open about her bisexuality. Lady Gaga has been a huge voice for the LGBTQ+ community, delivering speeches at events, writing the iconic “Born This Way” song in 2011, which became an LGBTQ+ anthem, and co-creating the Born This Way Foundation with her mother.

There are plenty of Lady Gaga Sims available to download in The Sims 4‘s Gallery, but this version of her has absolutely nailed her facial features, making her particularly authentic. The makeup is also perfect, as is her slicked-back bleached blonde hair and the sparkling outfit choice. It’s not a particularly out-there outfit, such as the ones Gaga wears while performing, but it’s inherently Gaga-esque in a toned-down and formal way.

6

Freddie Mercury

A Legendary Performer

Lead singer of the prominent rock band Queen, Freddie Mercury challenged the social norms of what it meant to be part of the stereotypically masculine rock era. He had a theatrical personality on stage, often wearing flamboyant outfits and displaying a camp aesthetic. Although he did not come out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community and had a long-term relationship with a woman, he did have relationships with men and spent his last years living with a man. His tragic death from AIDS complications heightened awareness of the disease, bringing worldwide attention to the stigma and allowing people to see beyond the prejudice that surrounded it.

Despite his various iconic outfits during his career, including his cross-dressing attire from the “I Want to Break Free” music video, Mercury’s most famous look is arguably his simple white tank top and trousers from the famous 1985 Live Aid performance. This look has been recreated excellently with this Freddie Mercury Sim, as have his facial features.

5

Princess Diana

The People’s Princess

  • Created by dorkydora.
  • Expansions required: Get Together.
  • Game packs required: Vampires and Spa Day.
  • Stuff packs required: Vintage Glamour, Movie Hangout, Cool Kitchen, and Luxury Party.
  • Gallery link.

The nickname People’s Princess was lovingly bestowed upon the late Princess Diana for her kindness and empathy, which included her revolutionary methods of advocating for the LGBTQ+ community. Diana opposed the widespread misinformation and ignorance associated with the AIDs disease and made history when she visited the first UK AIDs ward and shook hands with a patient without wearing gloves. This simple yet defiant act changed the way people thought about AIDs and portrayed Diana as a powerful advocate for those affected.

This Princess Diana Sim is well-made, capturing her elegant features, such as the slight downturn of her eyes. She is also dressed perfectly, sporting a royal blue blazer and white dress that emphasizes her regal yet down-to-earth nature.

4

David Bowie

Ziggy Stardust

Much like Freddie Mercury, David Bowie was a crucial influence on the LGBTQ+ community as a rock star in the 80s. Bowie was all about gender fluidity, with his well-known persona Ziggy Stardust being as androgynous as was possible. This persona was far from simply performative; it was a way to challenge the constrictive norms of the time. Bowie himself was also open about his sexuality, allowing those who felt marginalized to feel represented.

This David Bowie Sims recreates his Ziggy Stardust look, complete with eye makeup, red hair, and a sparkly red outfit. Bowie was known for his elegant and unique facial features, which would be difficult to recreate. This Sim does so perfectly, though, as Bowie is instantly recognizable.

3

Marsha P. Johnson

A Prominent Gay Rights Figure

  • Created by soukoulla.
  • Expansions required: High School Years, Discover University, Island Living, Get Famous, City Living, Get Together, and Get To Work.
  • Game packs required: Dream Home Decorator and Realm of Magic.
  • Stuff packs required: Moschino, Vintage Glamour, and Luxury Party.
  • Kits required: Carnaval Streetwear and Throwback Fit.

Marsha P. Johnson was one of the most important LGBTQ+ figureheads for people of color as well as members of the transgender community. Her impact is such that she created a legacy, advocating for the unheard and being a key figure in the 1969 Stonewall Riots. She also co-founded an organization called STAR (Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries), which stood for the rights of drag queens, transgender, and homeless youths in the LGBTQ+ community.

Though not an entertainment icon like the other Sims in the Gallery, this Marsha P. Johnson Sim is equally well-made and the perfect choice for those looking to add a true legend among the LGBTQ+ community to their Sims 4 file.

2

Madonna

Queen Of Pop

  • Created by evan0701lee.
  • Expansions required: Get Famous, Seasons, Cats & Dogs, and Parenthood.
  • Game packs required: Spa Day and Outdoor Retreat.
  • Stuff packs required: Fitness, Romantic Garden, and Luxury Party.
  • Gallery link.

Madonna has always been an advocate and icon for the LGBTQ+ community, and she also acknowledges how much of her career was established thanks to that same community. Not only has Madonna’s music and persona always focused on challenging societal norms in terms of gender and sexuality, but she also made a difference to the fearmongering surrounding AIDs in the 80s, being vocal and raising awareness of the misinformation being spread.

As with Lady Gaga, there are a bunch of Madonna Sims in The Sims 4 gallery. This version of her might not be as eccentrically dressed as some of the others, but it recreates her features amazingly well while still dressing her in attire that is true to her musical persona.

1

Elliot Page

A Trans Icon

  • Created by divanthesimmer.
  • Expansions required: Snowy Escape, Discover University, Island Living, Get Famous, and Seasons.
  • Game packs required: My Wedding Stories, Parenthood, and Outdoor Retreat.
  • Kits required: Incheon Arrivals.
  • Gallery link.

Elliot Page is a significant icon and strong celebrity advocate of the LGBTQ+ community, especially after a highly publicized transition period following a successful acting career. In 2020, he made the transition from female to male. This was highly significant for such a high-profile celebrity, and it easily could have harmed his career.

However, Page was determined to be true to himself, no matter the cost, and that kind of courage was inspirational to LGBTQ+ community members and allies everywhere. This Sim version of Elliot manages to capture his features excellently as well as his dapper style. It’s a must for those looking to add an icon from the transgender community to their Sims 4 file.
