Another feature that does Hollow Knight Unique is Geo's, an in-game currency that allows players to purchase items to help them complete their journey through Hallownest. And since geos are essential for players to progress, knowing where to farm them is essential. Fortunately, Hollow Knight has plenty of farming locations to help players get everything they need in no time.

Updated January 15, 2025, by Gerardo Molina: Hollow Knight is a game that allows for a lot of versatility and gives players a lot of freedom in terms of how they want to play the game, what upgrades they want to get, and what bosses they want to face. Many areas and enemies are optional, meaning the challenges players face will vary greatly from person to person. Collecting as many geos as possible can make the game a lot easier as it allows players to upgrade their stud, purchase useful spells and even cloak shards which are perfect for making the knight more resistant to damage.

Killing Moss Knights In Greenpath

Not the easiest quest, but great for early game geo

Hollow Knight - Moss Knight Fight

Greenpath is one of the first areas players can explore during their journey. It's full of herb-related enemies that can deal both physical and poison damage. While exploring this area, players will encounter a variety of enemies, including the formidable Moss Knight. This enemy is quite fast and has a confusing attack pattern that can be difficult to deal with, especially in the early stages of the game.

While some Moss Knights are optional, there is one that players will have to face one way or another. Moss Knights drop 40 Geo per kill, well worth the effort to kill them.

Killing Mawleks in the ancient cauldron

They are tough but manageable

Hollow Knight - Fighting a tense Mawlek

The Ancient Basin is a very challenging area that players have access to in the mid to late game. While exploring the area, players will be able to find Monarch Wings after defeating the formidable Broken Vessel, which is very difficult to defeat.

As players unlock shortcuts and benches in the area, they will also find several giant Mawleks that they can take to get a handful of Geo. These enemies are difficult to deal with and can kill knights if players aren't careful, but considering how rewarding it is to kill them, it's worth the risk.

Killing Hoppers in Kingdom's Edge Strategy

Get up to 500 geographic data per minute

Hollow Knight Kingdom Edge Map

Hoppers are one of the most annoying creatures in the Hollow Knight space as they can be a little hard to hit and avoid. Not to mention that they usually travel in packs and the more there are, the more serious a threat they pose. Fortunately, there is something to compensate for their annoying nature, and that is the potential they represent as Geo farms.

Once players get to Nailmaster Oro in Kingdom's Edge, they will find an area nearby with lots of hoppers and a bench not far from that location. Players should equip Fragile Greed or Unbreakable Greed to maximize the amount of Geo they get and sit on a nearby bench after each circuit to reset the area. Once experienced players learn to farm on the circuit, they should be able to reach 300-500 Geo per minute.

Take part in The Colosseum of Fools event

A great but challenging way to make thousands of geos

Colosseum of Fools in Hollow Knight

While The Colosseum of Fools isn't a walk in the park, it's still considered one of the best areas to farm Geo. And that's because players can endlessly complete trials and earn thousands of Geos in a relatively short period of time. But in order to effectively complete the trials, players will need some skill and patience, as the mini-boss introductions in Colosseum of Fools are quite challenging.

Additionally, players will have to bet before entering a match and if they lose the match they will lose the Geo. There are three different trials in the Colosseum of Fools: Trial of the Warrior, Trial of the Conqueror, and Trial of the Fool.

A trial with a warrior

The first trial is the easiest of the three trials and only requires 100 Geo to enter. Once players complete Trial of the Warrior for the first time, they will receive a Charm Notch, which is necessary for players to advance in Hollow Knight. Players can continue farming this trial indefinitely and earn 1000 – 1024 Geo per run.

Process with the conqueror

As players can expect, Trial of the Conqueror is a bit more challenging than the previous one, but the rewards are better. Like Trial of the Warrior, players will receive a Pale Ore for completing it for the first time. After that, players can complete Trial of the Conqueror as many times as they want and earn 2000 – 2200 Geo per run.

Trial of a Fool

The final exam combines the previous exams and adds a few extra surprises. This trial is the best to farm Geo, but also the most difficult as players will have to survive 17 waves of enemies. Players will have to pay 800 Geo to enter and will receive 3000 – 3020 Geo for completion.

King's Station Geo Farming Strategy

With consistency, experienced players can earn up to 10,000 geos per hour

Hollow Knight King's Station

Players looking to safely farm geos will most likely want to try the King's Station geo location, as enemies there can be easily defeated and drop a significant amount of geos. Players will need to farm the creatures found in the room to the left of the King's Station entrance, returning to the bench to reset the enemies when done.

Players can mainly focus on the smaller enemies, but they can try their luck and defeat the Great Husk Sentry located in the area. However, players can increase the amount of Geo they get by using the Fragile Greed Charm, as it increases the amount of Geo enemies drop by 20%.

Forgotten Crossroads Geographic Farming Strategy

Defeating Husk Guard is a great way to farm early game geo

Hollow Knight's Forgotten Crossroads

One of the best early geographic farming locations in Hollow Knight is the one located at Forgotten Crossroads. Players will need to go to Stag Station where they will find a Husk Guard who will drop 45 Geo. Players simply need to defeat the Husk Guard and reset the level by sitting on a nearby bench, which will give them around 1000 Geo in 10 minutes.

But players can take it a step further and use the Dashmaster Charm as it increases movement speed and cuts travel time in half.

A failed geo-farming strategy for trams

Carver Hatchers Are A Gold Mine

Failed Tramway Hollow Knight

Players who don't mind risking some souls to get a Geo will be able to get at least 3000 Geo every few minutes by breeding Carver Hatchers, more specifically their offspring, the Dirtcarvers in the Deepnest area. The main farming strategy for this location is to have Carver Hatchers spawn Dirtcarvers, and once players need to reset, defeat the Hatchers and rest on a nearby bench.

Each Dirtcarver drops about 6 Geos, and Carver Hatchers have an infinite amount of Dirtcarvers that can spawn, meaning players can grow them endlessly. But of course, players should avoid getting too greedy because there will be a point where there are too many Dirtcarvers, which means death is inevitable. While farming these creatures is tedious, players can make it easier by enjoying the fantastic Hollow Knight soundtrack.

Hollow Knight is available on PC, Linux, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
