Black Ops 6's Squid Game Event continues the disturbing zombie trend

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies was a much needed win for Treyarch. After an unpopular experimental period that saw the release of the much-maligned Vanguard Zombies and the divisive open world experience that was MWZ BO6 Zombies was a return to form. The turn-based format, specialized crew, and maps created with brand new resources as opposed to heavily reused assets are all things the community wanted and are the latest. Cod game delivered. However, it still has its problems, one of which unfortunately persists even in Game squid 2 event.

While Treyarch has worked to address community complaints such as the Mangler spawn, there areother aspects of the game that players would like to see tweaked. More unique mechanics that differentiate each map, map exclusive weapons, and a comprehensive Easter Eggs side quest are some of the things that were requested. Alternate game modes such as Grief are also commonly requested, as well as limited-time modes that players love to return to. Unfortunately, Treyarch hasn't knocked it out of the park yet Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies LTM, which is a worrying trend that will hopefully not continue throughout the game's life cycle.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is about to take Zombies fans into an excavation environment, and Treyarch can do a few things to bring it up to Origins level.

Treyarch's Zombies LTMs, Like Dead Light, Green Light, have yet to hit

Unfortunately, Treyarch is 0 for 2 when it comes to making a limited time mode that pleases people Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. His first attempt with Jingle Hells came close to reaching the goal as a number of things worked in his favor. Players were still able to complete most of the Easter Eggs side quest at Liberty Falls, while the map received a major winter overhaul, placing every undead enemy – including mini-bosses – in Christmas-themed clothing to really liven up the Christmas theme. Jingle Hells also had unique mechanics, such as ice storms that froze players caught outside cover and thrown snowballs that gave the undead a chance to throw gifts. Despite all these positive aspects, the chaotic progress prevented the fashion from greatness.

While this was potentially done to get players to embrace the current mechanics, the lack of saves meant that players could not easily upgrade their default weapon in Jingle Hells, causing Black Ops 6 camo-grinding was tedious and forced players to rely primarily on random weapon drops from gifts. Additionally, no saves meant no armor to buy, and with enemies dropping armor so infrequently in the mode, players often found themselves without armor. Given that Black Ops 6 is balanced around the armor system, a decision that made what looked like a fun holiday mode too difficult for casual players.

Call of Duty'with Game squid 2 the collaboration bringing a new LTM for Zombies offered Treyarch a chance to fix Jingle Hells' flaws, but unfortunately it's even more flawed. Many Call of Duty Zombie fans take issue with the following aspects of the mode:

  • Forced Exfil: Players are forced to retreat on turn 10, meaning once they start upgrading their weapons and mastering the mode's rules, they are forced to leave instead of aiming for a high turn.
  • Forbidden quests: Not only can players not advance the main quest in Dead Light, Green Light, but side quests like those for the Citadelle Des Morts elemental swords are also banned, meaning players can't even use miracle weapons on the map in LTM.
  • Lack of depth: With only one positive effect in the form of double Green Light points and two negatives through the improved Dead Light horde and Red Light movement penalty, players will see everything the mode has to offer rather quickly. More green and red light effects could have greatly deepened the mode.
  • Limited map changes: Instead of giving Citadelle Des Morts fresh visuals to match Squid gameLTM themed players experience, the only changes made to the map are several large statues of the Young-Hee doll scattered throughout the area. It's a far cry from Jingle Hells, which gave Liberty Falls a major redesign. Zombies dressed as soldiers or Squid game players could also add to the uniqueness of the new mode.

Why LTM hits will be key for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

With a full round Zombies map that probably won't come out every season Call of Duty: Black Ops 6and no open world mode like Outbreak slowly expanding with new content, LTM games can't continue to disappoint players. Aside from minor additions like Ammo Mods and Field Upgrades, the limited time modes may be the main reason to play. BO6 Zombies during slow periods between map drops. If modes continue to drop, zombie lovers could face significant content droughts, which is worrying for any live-service title. Dead Light, Green Light had some potential as being forced to stand still or risk losing points can be intense, but its main flaws greatly limit its replayability. With multiplayer Game squid 2 modes that knocked it out of the park, it's a shame that the zombies feel like an afterthought, and hopefully that will change with future events.
