Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 may have just been revealed with an October release date. But all Call of Duty fans will remember are Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2, two of the most acclaimed COD titles in history.
This is because the two titles received ratings in South Korea, leading some to believe that they could be imminent remasters or re-releases.
As first shared on the subreddit r/GamingLeaksAndRumours, South Korea's ratings agency, the Game Rating and Administration Committee, their equivalent of the ESRB or PEGI, has new ratings for Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2.
Both Black Ops titles are listed with a May 21, 2026, acceptance date, or roughly 10 days earlier as of writing. It was about them on May 29, i.e. two days ago. Now the results are publicly available.
Following this revelation, one user pointed out that during the recent Steam sale for older Call of Duty tiles, Black Ops games were strangely absent from the discounts available.
In comparison, Black Ops is $39.99 on Steam and Black Ops 2 is $59.99.

Unlike Black Ops 7, Modern Warfare 4's campaign can be played offline
Activision seems to have learned from how Black Ops 7 was received.
All eyes are on the Xbox presentation
With Modern Warfare 4 recently revealed and Summer Game Fest kicking off this week, all eyes are now on the Xbox Games Showcase set for Sunday, June 7.
It's likely that Modern Warfare 4 will have some type of presence. However, everyone wants to see if Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 will be as well.
Both titles are currently backwards compatible on Xbox One and Xbox Series hardware, although they are not available on Game Pass. None of the titles are available on current PlayStation hardware, and the Nintendo Switch does not yet have a Call of Duty release.
As for older Call of Duty titles, the original Modern Warfare was a bonus included in the Deluxe Edition of Infinite Warfare and was eventually released as a standalone. This version of Modern Warfare Remastered featured multiplayer.
Later, Modern Warfare 2 was released as a standalone remaster, although it was just a single-player campaign. A third Modern Warfare title was not submitted.
Whether it's a pre-order bonus, a campaign re-release, a full game bundle, or something unknown, something is coming.

The next Arc Raiders update isn't until October, which means I might play it
I like the sound of bi-annual updates.
