Capcom is on an incredible run, and the company's momentum doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Capcom has been one of the leading video game developers and publishers for decades, with a number of ground-breaking, high-profile franchises including Mega man, Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Devil May Cryand Monster Hunterto name just a handful.
Like any gaming company, Capcom has had its ups and downs over the years. There was a period more than ten years ago when Resident Evil lost direction and misc Mega man projects were canceled when Capcom's best days seemed to be over. But then Capcom came back swinging Resident Evil 7which served as a renaissance for its flagship survival-horror series, and while there have been a few setbacks since then, the company has mostly delivered a steady stream of high-quality gaming experiences.
Resident Evil Requiem Review: A Masterpiece of Horror Games
Expertly blending pure horror and over-the-top action, Resident Evil Requiem becomes the ultimate Resident Evil experience.
Just look at Capcom's output so far in 2026. In February, Capcom released Resident Evil Requiem to rave reviews, with an impressive overall rating of 89, making it one of the highest rated games of the year and one of the highest rated RE games ever made. a month later Monster hunter tales 3 hit a scene with a similarly high praise (getting a score of 85) and lastly Pragmatics was also released to mostly positive reviews (earning 87 points). Three of the top-rated games of 2026 are from Capcom, with even more to look forward to in the coming months.
Capcom's full plan for 2026 has yet to be detailed, but we do know this Onimusha: Path of the Sword coming out in 2026. Onimusha: Path of the Sword is a reboot of Capcom's action-adventure samurai series, and what's been shown so far has looked incredibly impressive. If Capcom's other efforts in 2026 are any indication, the odds are good Onimusha: Path of the Sword will prove to be one of the best new games of the year.
Capcom's hot streak really started in 2017 Resident Evil 7and the company has been on fire ever since. There have been some unsuccessful experiments such as Exoprimal a dinosaur multiplayer game that hasn't quite taken off and Resident Evil Re:Verse spin-off that has since been discontinued, but overall Capcom's output was of high quality.
Street Fighter 6 won Best Fighting Game at The Game Awards 2023, Devil May Cry 5 won Best Action Game at The Game Awards 2019 and several Resident Evil games were nominated for game of the year. Capcom's remakes, collections, and remasters have given fans a chance to relive some of the company's older favorites, ensuring that there's a healthy mix of old-school games and brand new releases.
