There are many reasons why Dandadan has quickly become one of the biggest anime and manga series of 2024. Readers and viewers adore its cute cast of characters, its bizarre yet fascinating world, and most importantly, its unique power system. Yukinobu Tatsu's magnum opus is all about the conflict between aliens and ghosts/yokai. Many of the characters in this story have gained special powers from one of these supernatural creatures.

Almost half of the main cast Dandadan they interacted with the spirits, who in one way or another gave them access to an incredible transformation that allows them to use their impressive spiritual powers. Rin Sawaki

He controls the powers of Mai Kawabanga / Onbusuman

Rin Sawaki is a relatively late addition to the main cast Dandadanbut she has already proven herself to be an invaluable member of the team. After clearing the Onbusuman that had haunted her for most of her life (which contained the soul of her deceased boyfriend, Mai Kawabanga), Rin can now bond with her new guardian spirit and gain access to some fascinating abilities.

When they were little kids, Rin and Mai always dreamed of becoming famous idols. So this spiritual transformation allows the class representative to become one with the added ability to manipulate gravity. Rin's new transformation and power set were a big help during the Danmanra Arc, but she hasn't shown any fighting ability yet, making her the current weakest member of the Family.

Unji Zuma

He controls the powers of Futa Zuma / Umbrella Boy

• First performance: Chapter 136 (Manga)

Unji Zuma is a delinquent with a heart of gold who one day gained access to the yokai powers called Umbrella boywho is actually the spirit of Futa, his deceased brother. As a result, Zuma's new transformation allows him to harness the power of Umbrella Boy. He can materialize powerful umbrellas to fight, levitate, and even shoot devastating shockwaves. Zuma was already an effective fighter before gaining his spiritual powers, but became even stronger after mastering the use of his umbrellas.

However, as impressive as this power is, it's limited to only using two umbrellas, which is a huge (albeit fair) bummer. When the fairy card later possessed Zuma, it enhanced his power and forced him to achieve an even more powerful and menacing new form. According to the Yokai, it was just using Zuma's own power and misguided desire to destroy the world. Perhaps this forced transformation was an indication of the true power he would be able to attain in future chapters.

Aira Shiratori

Controls Acrobatic Silky

• First performance: Chapter 10 (Manga) Episode 5 (Anime)

The conclusion of the Acrobatic Silky Arc remains one of the most heartbreaking moments Dandadan. It involves the revelation of the titular yokai's tragic backstory, right after he decides to save himself Aira Shiratori life by sacrificing himself. Luckily, Kami High's most popular girl decided to hug and say thank you Acrobatic Silky as she left for the afterlife, unaware that she had just inherited her impressive physical abilities.

The powers of this tragic spirit are all about the qualities that make up her name. Aira is stronger, faster, and more agile when she transforms, and has silky hair that she can grow longer and use as tentacles or other appendages. Aira was already quite strong when she started using her acrobatic silk powers during her encounter with Serpos, but she got even stronger after going through some brutal training and fighting a bunch of powerful aliens. Her special, Piruette Noble Drill, is particularly destructive.

Jin Enjoji (jiji)

It controls the powers of the evil eye

• First performance: Chapter 27 (Manga) Episode 10 (Anime)

Jin Enjoybetter known as Jijiis completely different from all other people in Dandadan who can use spiritual power. This is because he actually loses complete control over his body when the yokai that possessed him Evil eyetakes over. At first it seemed like a huge problem for Jiji's friends because he is one of the most powerful evil spirits and he is trying to destroy all of humanity.

To make matters worse, when Evil Eye controls Jiji's body, he commands immense physical power and is almost impossible to take down. Fortunately for everyone, Okarun managed to keep this yokai at bay after promising to “play” with him. Due to the possession of the Evil Eye and Okaruna's limitations, Jiji can now use his incredible ki reserves to perform devastating special moves. In particular, his Ha Wave and his Evil Gun were invaluable in the war against the Space Globalists. If Jiji can one day make peace with Evil Eye and take full control of his powers, he has the potential to become one of the most powerful spirit warriors in the series.

Ken Takakura (Okarun)

Controls Turbo Grandma's Powers

As expected, one of the main protagonists Dandadan he is also the strongest person with spiritual powers to date. At the beginning of the story Ken Takakura (aka Okarun) was possessed by a vengeful spirit known as Turbo grandmaallowing him to defeat the dangerous Serpos who sought to harm his new friend Momo Ayase. After dealing with the yokai (and losing his two “golden balls” in the process), Okarun managed to stop Turbo's possession of Grandma while retaining her powers.

Okarun's Turbo Granny transformation looks amazing because she's basically the face of the whole thing Dandadan series. This also makes him strong, agile, and fast, important qualities that have been fostered by his daily training. Due to his immense strength, Okarun was able to defeat countless supernatural threats such as Nessie, Evil Eye, and Space Globalists. These impressive victories cemented him as the most powerful man in the Dandadan who can control spiritual powers. Tragically, he recently lost these powers after being returned by Turbo Granny, but she will surely return sooner or later.
