After breakout start with original By thisfollows Temtem: Showdown and Temtem: Swarmdeveloper Crema has brought yet another project to Kickstarter as part of its IP and it's called Theme: Pioneers. Much like Temtem: Swarm decided to defy the principle of monster collecting games with bullet hell game mechanics, Theme: Pioneers is a survival game at its core. The survival mechanics aren't necessarily limiting, according to Crema, and the game very much retains the aspect of finding, taming, and training monsters to accompany you on your adventures. The game's monster-collecting identity takes an interesting turn here, as you'll be able to use Themes as mounts, fight wild Themes and Downbelow bosses, and help collect resources.
There's a lot to unpack when it comes down to it Theme: PioneersBelow, its pets, its gameplay, and what the developer has promised so far. Interestingly, while the Kickstarter campaign has ended, Crema has decided to allow late pledges for those who missed the campaign but still want to get the game or other add-ons. Additionally, the game came with seven stretch goals on Kickstarter, and all of them were deleted. They range from additional biomes to game-changing features like a PvP arena, and here's everything you need to know.

Temtem Swarm: The best build for Platypet
The Platypet is one of two adorable Tems available to all players in Temtem: Swarm. Here are his best builds for use in combat.
TemTem: Pioneers of a confirmed Kickstarter stretch goal
Theme: PioneersThe new Tems are of course one of the biggest parts of the game as they build on IP identity and replace removal By this's Digital Themes.

However, most Kickstarter stretch goals focus on adding meaningful features to the game:
- Funding objective — 90,000 Euros (approx. $105,000): That was the goal Crema set to kick-start development, and it was reached in eight hours.
- Crystal Biome (stretch target 1) — 140,000 euros (around $165,000): The first stretch goal adds a new biome to the game selection, which is the Crystal Biome. Specific encounters have not yet been released, but they will most likely involve various Crystal-type Temtem.
- Fossil Tems (stretch target 2) — 250,000 Euros (around $294,000): This stretch goal adds a total of six new Temtems to Theme: Pioneerswith three basic fossil forms and one evolution each. It's not yet clear what this will translate into, but Crema has confirmed that it will be a quest chain that will also unlock the dungeon.
- Improved mount system (stretch target 3) — 300,000 euros (around $352,000): The third stretch goal for Theme: Pioneers on Kickstarter adds new features to the mount system. This allows players to use mixed terrain mounts and go faster in every terrain by training their mounts.
- Dark Forest Biome (stretch target 4) — 350,000 Euros (around $411,000): This stretch goal adds a second and final extra biome to the game, this time targeting a mental-type Temtem slot. As with the first one, it's not clear exactly what it will contain, but the first images show a few returning Themes.
- New item variants (stretch target 5) — €400,000 (around $470,000): The fifth stretch goal adds not one, but two new color variants for each Temtem. If you're familiar with Shiny Pokemon, each Tem used to have a Luma color palette unique to that species, with Umbra added as a universal variant. Now Pioneers adds variations of Auri and Iris, probably always yellow/gold Tems for the former and iridescent for the latter.
- Customizable game modes (stretch goal 6) — 450,000 euros (around $529,000): This stretch goal will allow players to customize their servers and how their survival game plays overall, both for solo play and co-op.
- PvP Playground (stretch target 7) — 500,000 Euros (around $588,000): The final stretch goal was reached less than 24 hours after the end of the campaign and will offer players a PvP arena where they can test their items against other players in a battle simulation-like mode in Pokemon showdown.
These seven are all stretch goals for the game, and it's worth noting that no more have been added and there are no uncompleted goals. New features not mentioned or expanded upon in the campaign may be added to the final version of the game or its alpha version for fans to try out. For example, various bosses have mainly been hinted at, with one of them confirmed to be Gharunder. Crema also confirmed that breeding is in the game and that it will be much more accessible than the original game, although it remains to be seen how.
Still, Theme: Pioneers is shaping up to be a nice addition Pokemon-like games and custom IP. While very different from By thiswith real-time combat and survival mechanics, it could be the refreshing yet familiar experience the series needs.
