Friendslop games are on the rise. Over the past few years titles like REPO, Peak, Lethal Company and Content Warning have earned the admiration of the masses and sold millions of copies between them. These games emphasize fun and their popularity is no surprise as players crave new experiences with friends.
The newest game in the Friendslop sub-genre, Far Far West, hit Steam last week and is already on its way to massive success, with over 18,000 reviews and a massive player count in its debut weekend.
Far Far West had one of the best launches of 2026 so far
Some might argue that Far Far West is more of a traditional multiplayer game than a Friendslop title, but it certainly has all the hallmarks. Players team up with friends to collect rewards and deal with a bunch of nonsense along the way. The trailer itself shows one player slapping a skeleton snake while another throws a sheriff's badge at a skeleton riding a horse. Friendslop definitely looks it in the nicest and most shameful way.
Regardless of how it's labeled, Far Far West is at the beginning. After launching just a week ago, the game already has 18,000 reviews on Steam, 97 percent of which are positive. As a result, it boasted a “Mostly Positive” rating on the Valve-owned platform. They are glowing.
“This game has the makings to be the next Big Thing™ in the PvE co-op shooter/slasher department in my honest opinion,” said one review. “Deep Rock Galactic/Helldivers 2 from 2026, except it's more fun and faster paced. has easy-night-moth level difficulty, lots of easter eggs, spells, weapons. Grind is great, all attainable for free in the game,” said another.
This game has the potential to be, in my honest opinion, the next big thing.
Not only are its reviews great, but Far Far West has also achieved some really impressive player numbers. It peaked at over 47,000 players on Steam over the weekend, according to SteamDB, more than Marathon, Palworld, Rocket League and Pragmata.
It's a stellar start for Team Evil Raptor, and it's likely to roll from here.
