For Gold And Glory is a search that you find on the beautiful, exotic Rivain coast from Dragon Age: The Veilguard. It is where the Lords of Fortune, including Taash, set up their base, although Taash is not required for this mission. It sees you resupply for Antivan Crows on behalf of the Lords of Fortune.
However, it is less about finding supplies and more on the defeat of Antaam who guard them in various places. for this reason we recommend taking Taash and Lucanis. Both have a narrative link to the quest, but also theirs Fire and Necrotic damage is highly effective against enemies you fight and they can trigger detonations also through combos. As if Rook might not even be there…
Taash is mostly there because it's their home, but they are useful in combat. As long as it's not Bellarawhose Electrical abilities are durable by Antaam are you ok.
Defeat Antaam
The first Antaam set you face is a trio. They exist the two Valotaars, who are but brutes, and the God-touched Valotarrwhich is the same but with harder punches. Deflect their attacks and use Necrotic abilities make short work of them. The bigger problem is Taaralokwhich makes a trio a quartet and is a ranged Antaam with Armor.
Taaralok is mostly a nuisance. It can disrupt your fight against three thugs going head-to-head while keeping your distance. Using Taash's fire powers, any turret abilities that destroy armorand Charged heavy attacks, you should rush to the Taaraloks first. If you're too far shots from a distance will also work.
Defeat the Reaver
Once you've dealt enough damage to a God-touched Valotaar, a Reaver will appear. This becomes the biggest threat and that's it imperative that you get rid of the Taaraloks so you can focus on Reaver. They charge around the arena with unstoppable, devastating attacks and you'll need to dodge quickly.
When the Reaver appears, you need to focus on thinning the herd. It takes a while to take down the Reaver, so you don't want other enemies to get in your way. Since the Reaver is predictable (chasing you and attacking), keep moving and dodge in or out avoid it and take out the other Antaam.
When you have Reaver alone, use Taash's abilities to do so use Burning it helps you cut down on attack when it takes rare breaks – just be prepared to dodge again afterwards. Search the bodies of the Crows in the corner when the fight is over to discover a second location where a supply cache (and more Antaam) awaits.
Find the inventory cache
Go through the ruins and follow the marker as they are they lead you over the ledge and out onto the shorethen dive back and move over the wall. Follow the passage out and in slide down the hill to the next battle arena.
If you have unlocked the Dragon Beach Fast Travel Beacon, you can also use this.
You will be interrupt Antaam on some pest control to the local wildlife that guides you to a new form of Antaam to fight: Anadar. These have flamethrowersthough they remain resistant to electrical damage, not fire, so Taash can still gut them.
How to defeat Anadar
When you enter with a Charged Heavy attack, rush the Anadar closest to you. Keep hitting regular heavy attacks until the armor drops – these enemies take a while to prepare their flamethrowerso you can drop it before it starts. Once the Armor is down, it will be soon Spread out where you can perform a Takedown.
Then you are left with two Anadar and one Valotaar, but anadar flamethrowers give them so much coverage that they should be a priority. Taash can take down their Armor (ideally comboing with Lucanis), just be aware that if you rush them you need to dodge quickly if the other one arrives.
The arena here is big enough to keep your distance where you can, especially since Anadar has much more reach. Abilities and ranged attacks will help though Armor deals best with Charged Heavy attacksso you may have to take a risk when an opening appears.
Restock
After eliminating all enemies, head to the back of the arena and climb up the rocks. Continue along the river to the stairs, then jump onto the platform with the log on it. Walk along the branch and continue around left until you reach Clifftops.
Drop downthen head around the waterfall to find note in the pool at the bottom. This will take you to your final location where you will need to walk away from the waterfall and around the cliff you just jumped off of back to the river and the stage with the branch. This time, go up and go right.
This will get you to some castle ruins so walk your way and take the exit at the back rightup the stairs on the zipline. Take it zipline over to Warden Castleand inside you will fight your penultimate wave of Antaamu.
You will face the four Valotaarsincluding some with hammers that charge. They should, however, be treated as before, s Necrotic abilities and burn status, as well as Heavy Attacks and Takedowns while Staggered.
Defeat Penshank the Blood Eater
Head through the ruins of the castle, out into the rocky walls and around the corner in the back (may be hard to see in the dark, but run there the back wall then turn left). Outside you will face the final boss of the quest: Blood Eater Penshanek.
At first sight Penshanek is not too difficult. has no armor or barrier, just a very robust health barso powerful necrotic abilities and any high damage or status abilities work well too. The question is how crowded things are.
The Bailey Castle area is tighter than the rest of Rivain and Penshanek is two Anadar, Valotaar and Taaralok to help him. First, take out the Taaralok with Charged ranged attacks and abilitiesthen focus on eroding Anadar armor with Detonationand hurry Valotaar with heavy attacks.
Any abilities with a large area of effect will be very useful here.
when it's done think of Penshanek as a large Valotar. Dodge when it lights up red, and quickly land heavy attacks on Stagger. when it's done free the Antivan Crow locked in a corner and the quest will be completed.
