While Zapotron remained in the game files until Chapter 1, Season 4, he never returned. Its short lifespan meant most of today's Fortnite Players have never experienced this incredibly powerful weapon. The weapon is classified as a sniper rifle and uses energy cells as ammunition, which have also not been seen in-game since the weapon was removed. Although there have been numerous sightings of the weapon over the years, such as the brief discovery of a va Fortnite x Marvel comic series, Zapotron is yet to make a triumphant return in the game. But it looks like that could be about to change.

Fortnite Leak Hints That Zapotron Is Returning
With launch Fortnite OG in December saw the return of some of the most iconic weapons, items and locations in the game. But as Zapotron precedes Fortnitein the first seasons, no one expected the weapon to return to OG mode. However, that could soon change according to leaker HYPEX. In a new post on Twitter, the leaker said the gun would be coming back Fortnite OG as it suddenly reappears in the game files. While Epic Games has yet to officially confirm this, it's worth noting that Zapotron hasn't been in the game's files since Chapter 1, so reading about it certainly lends credence to his return to the game.
Zapotron was re-added to the game files with the new release Fortnite update on January 14, which added a new feature that allowed players to use festival tools like the pickaxe and back bling. Along with this new feature, the latest Fortnite the update also brought collaboration with Hatsune Miku. The collaboration included two Miku skins and various special cosmetic items and music that players could obtain through the in-game item shop.
It's unclear exactly when Zapotron might return, but Fortnite According to Epic Games, OG Season 1 is currently scheduled to end on January 31st at 2:00 AM ET. Fortnite OG will then change to Chapter 1, Season 2, bringing with it all the loot in-game weapons, locations, and more from the original season. Since the Zapotron is only in the game for such a short time before the start of Chapter 1 Season 1, it is unknown how Epic intends to place the weapon in the game's rotation.
