Greedfall 2: The Dying World is not what one would consider a traditional sequel. Despite the fact that they follow the year 2019 gredfall, takes place three years before the events of the cult classic RPG. The game also brings some big changes to the combat systems introduced in its predecessor. Instead of being a straightforward action RPG à la The Witcher 3, Greedfall 2 is more similar Star Wars: KOTOR or Dragon Age: Origins. His combat is still real-time, but can be intermittently paused mid-battle to allow players to control their characters. Besides all that Greedfall 2 developer Spiders is using an early access model for the game, something the company didn't do with the original Greedfall.
Although Greedfall 2 intended to be a cross-platform title, it was released in early access exclusively for Windows PC on September 24, 2024. According to the game's Steam page, Spiders decided to go this route because they wanted to get feedback from players and know that it's “on the right track ” with the development of the game. Reception to Greedfall 2 has been mixed so far, but as the developers look to build on it in future updates, there's good reason to believe it could become a truly special game over time. Unlike other RPGs as they are widely recognized Baldur's Gate 3although Spiders seems to be taking a unique approach Greedfall 2an early access plan, especially when it comes to the introduction of new regions.
