The previous game in the series only came out in 2013, and fans have spent the last 13 years wondering when they might get a chance to play the sequel. “We think we're going to make the greatest piece of entertainment on Earth, in history, and it's a pretty daunting challenge. If we do it and serve our customers, then it will take care of itself,” Zelnick said.

As consoles get more advanced, development takes longer, especially for AAA games. As a result, it's becoming less unusual to go several years between games. GTA 6 however, it is in a category of its own. Fans have sometimes waited decades between new games in existing franchises, but that's usually because the developer took a break from the series, or because the previous game flopped. GTA 5 is one of the most successful games of all time and Rockstar has been working on the sequel for a very long time. Fans hope this time was well spent. GTA 6 rumors claim that the game will have advanced NPCs and a few more leaps over previous entries.

In times of great economic uncertainty, GTA 6 could sell gaming systems to PC gamers or console users who have yet to upgrade from PS4 or Xbox One. More consoles sold will lead to more games getting support as well. People who finally decide to buy PS5 or Xbox Series X GTA 6 will probably buy other big games like Marvel's Wolverineor Forza Horizon 6. The industry could use a really big success story.

Between the pressures of the industry itself and the pressures to meet fan demand, it's no wonder Strauss Zelnick is terrified of how GTA 6The startup will take place. The game is basically guaranteed to be a financial success, but it remains to be seen how people will feel about the product.
